Commenting Is Fixed…Bunches of new commentary

We’ve fixed the comments section, so fire away.

Basically, when the site was upgraded to the new system, it went hyper-conservative to force each and every comment to be approved before it would appear.  (It’s an ant-spam measure…) I hadn’t realized that this was the case and when I did find out, I fixed things back to the way they were.

I was wondering about this. It was beginnning to look like only authors could comment.

^ Yes, that was the case for a while. Spam paranoia has gotten to be about 1/3 of my administration duties, and 1/2 goes to security these days. That’s for both here and at my job as well. The rest is the fun stuff.

Like I said, the information highway, including radio, cable, and the web has created this super-hype paranoia in all mediums. I(diot) C(entral) and the Wolfpack equivalent are perfect examples.
Fire LF! Fire Sid! We lost two games in a row! Take the player’s scholarships away!
That being said, what SFN offers is the opportunity to discuss these issues in a reasoned and enlightened format.

Thanks SFN for giving reasonable people the opportunity to share ideas on WP sports.
Hopefully you’ll always keep it that way (I don’t post a ton but thought I’d pissed someone off when I said that Sid’s staff has a collective 60 years of college coaching experience!LOL).

Thanks, GC. You wouldn’t believe the number of out and out spam comments that the site throws out auto-magically…ads for pills and implements, and sites that peddle skin.

SFN is not the place for that, and obviously it’s not propogated from here, but it is a guilty-until-proven-innocent world these days.

For the record, I just posted on the “Site registration issues” thread and I finally successfully received a password reset for an nc.rr.com email address. I had not seen it mentioned anywhere that that WAS finally resolved (though it was expected to be resolved).

I like the old banner much better. Font more classic and darker red better. My opinion. Thanks for all your hard work for the wolfpack community.

By the way I thought the site was down for several days due to being on some sort of strike after the sunken-treasure-seekers game. i guess the dns is changed so you MUST type www before the hostname. ok then.

Also thought the site was gone! Finally decided to just type in http://www.statefansnation.com and found it again. The link from “My Favorites” was giving me an error message about a .php file in WordPress.

It started after the East Carolina game and thought we’d had a “total meltdown”!

No total meltdown, just the growing pains of a new server.
