Nice Work, JB.
It’s a good interview. If you have the time and get a chance to listen I would definitely recommend it.
JB brought up good points about being honest and objective, which are the main traits that draw me to this site. Of course, being objective gets confused a lot with “hating” or “worshiping” depending on which way the wind is blowing.
It’s funny, I imagine if State ever went to another Final Four or made a BcS game I bet this site might be labeled as a bunch of “homers who never say anything bad about their own program.”
Perception is easily warped …
Honesty and objectivity are wonderful things.
Good job JB34, looking forward to hearing part deux.
Is part 2 a secret?
JB34–That was an excellent interview. You and Taylor had a reasonable, thoughtful conversation about the state of N. C. State athletics, and I hope fans of all schools in the triangle were listening. Many UNX and Dook fans think of us as the redneck lunatic fringe that has unrealistic expectations. That could not be further from the truth and that interview is a great snapshot of who Statefansnation is and what we believe. I think that you are an excellent spokesman for most of us that are regular viewers and posters on this site, and I thank you for all that you and the other authors do.
^ Couldn’t have said it better!
^^ agreed.
How practical is it to actually define Fowlers performance and role in the facilities that he points to as his defining accomplishments. This interview suggests that even though he pushed for the facilities, they were largely if not entirely funded by the WPC, The funding was generated by the WPC and not the athletic department, and that the building/scope of the projects were bungled by Fowler and had to be taken over by the WPC.
I think this is the first time I have heard of these things. Any background on those statements would be phenomenal.
I didn’t listen via the web (outside the Triangle) for previously stated issues and yes they are mine alone.
I did listen to the parts posted here. A good and reasonable discussion. Kudos to Jeff and to Taylor.
I think it’s refreshing to hear a guy with TZ’s position in the media actually giving a damn about what the facts are surrounding a situation. He’s clearly capable of deriving from the facts his own learned opinion. As far as the mainstream media goes, he’s without a doubt the rare exception. That’s often a more difficult job and takes way more effort. It’s certainly more time consuming than just regurgitating the information and sometimes misinformation that flows around other circuits.
So far I’ve been pretty impressed with the guy listening to his show, and I say that about most all of his commentary and not just because he chose to somewhat align himself with some of the folks of this communities’ opinions on Fowler.
Does anyone know if a transcript of the interview can be seen anywhere? Thanks.
No. We won’t have it transcribed.
