Well. All good things have to end. So do bad things. This season, for example.
ACC Tournament games on Thursday are like … eh. I can’t even care enough to think up a good analogy.
We are all hoping, of course, for a repeat and follow-through of what the Wolfpack did last year. And Washington is hoping the ’stimulus package’ will save the economy. Don’t hold your breath for either.
As I see it, Miami has won 6 of its last 8 games. NC State has lost its last 8 games. Miami beat Duke. NC State almost beat Duke. Miami thinks it needs to win at least one to lock up an NCAA tournament bid. NC State has sounded for the last two weeks that it was going to magically get it together at the ACC tournament.
These to me are ingredients for a long day. But maybe I’ll be wrong. I forecast last December that NC State would do better in the second half of the ACC season than the first half, after all.
So here’s your game thread. Please know that tempers are short and this long season has taken its toll on every Wolfpack fan, whether you think the coach is solely at fault or, like me, you can theorize about a whole bunch of factors and even they don’t fully explain the colossal cluster[] that this season has become.
Just deal with the game as it comes. Any extraneous junk will be deleted regardless of relevant matter elsewhere in the post.
*Update: 4:17 p.m. Just for the record, I don’t think I have ever been wrong when I have flat-out predicted a Wolfpack defeat.*

^Love that pic!
Go pack

I’m torn. I’ll be somewhat miffed (to put it nicely) if they suddenly play well and make a run in this tournament. But, I still want them to play well. Tough life we live.
I’m at work. Somebody crack one open for me.
GO PACK!!

Your intro says it all. Forget this basketball stuff. If Daniel Evans starts over Glennon, I may have to flip my lid.
March 13th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
I want them to win because I’m a State fan and I can’t help myself. I also want them to win so they don’t end up with a losing record.
March 13th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
God, how painful is that. ACC tourney, and we have football comments. I think that sums up the season nicely.
March 13th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Thankfully I will be at work for the game. I think the reason we have been losing is because I have been watching. The first Duke game I was still at work for the first half, got home started watching and we started losing. I apologize to all my Wolfpack buddies. The blame falls on me for this terrible season. Maybe by not watching the game today we will snap the 8 game losing streak.

We have become so completely irrelevant that now Davidson College gets more press than we do. Can we turn the tide?
March 13th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
I’m glad to watch an NC state game any time no matter how depressing this season has become. It’s been fun watching Trevor get some PT and finally turn it on. Now if only we could get Ferguson and Fells to turn on the 3 point touch at the SAME TIME… and have Costner remember how to play… and McCauley… and bring back atsur. Then we’d have a good shot at this tournament.
Ahh screw it, you’re right.. we’re better off talking about football.
March 13th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
well davidson has 2 guards on their squad ,2 more than we have
March 13th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
the only thing wrong with the picture is there’s a light…symbolically offering hope.
GO PACKKKKK
March 13th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
Yeah, and one of Davidson’s guards is a superstar and the other one leads the nation in assists.
March 13th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Goooooo Pack!
March 13th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
guard play helped FSU stem the opening 2nd half run, and guard play is pretty much single-handedly keeping WFU in it.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
wow FSU weathered Wake, hit their free throws…just hope they have enough for UNX.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
I will always root for the pack to win, but part of me wants these guys to have the worst possible taste in their mouths going into the offseason. Another good run might actually get these guys believing they’re good again and to another offseason of poolside beer and doughnuts.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
Yeah, and one of Davidson’s guards is a superstar and the other one leads the nation in assists.
And they both have a loss to NC State this year.
Is that a “bad loss?”
March 13th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
the only thing wrong with the picture is there’s a light…symbolically offering hope.
Alternatively, it could be light that they say you see when you are dying.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
RAWFS…LOL, true dat (if i may break off some lingo).
March 13th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
man the commercials that espn does that you get to see on espn360 are pretty funny.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
That is a very bad loss for Davidson. Curry went cold in the last 10 minutes or we would have had a losing record going into the ACC tourney.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
To Davidson’s credit, they won their conference tournament to assure the automatic NCAA bid, so they did not have to worry about “bad losses” to State, W. Michigan and Charlotte and “good losses” to UNX, Dook and UCLA.
Go Pack!
March 13th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
Hey, don’t give credit to Davidson just because Curry went cold for the last 10 minutes. We would have only had 4 losses and would be a lock in the dance if we didn’t go cold for a stretch (like 11 or 12 weeks).
March 13th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
It’s a sad day when NC State is a bad loss to a Southern Conference team.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
RAWFS–You are right, it is a sad day when this happens. Speaking of bad losses, I just saw that ECU lost to Tulsa in the 1st round of C-USA tourney yesterday.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Interesting, same line up as last years tourny, minus Javi for Astur. Could it be a sign?
