0-37 (so far): Wolfpack Doesn’t Look to Want to Go Bowling

* NC State sarting middle linebacker, James Martin, has torn his ACL and will not play today. Of course, you won’t hear about this from the Lincoln Financial-TV production who have failed to mention anything about the rash of injuries that have impacted BOTH of these tames this season. It’s just sad. The perseverance through injuries of these two teams to be playing for a bowl bid today is THE STORY of today’s game. Don’t believe me? Check out this entry about injuries in the ACC written on November 1st BEFORE each team encountered some of their other injuries.
* Daniel Evans throws ANOTHER interception deep in Maryland territory that (again) changed to entire complexion of the game. It will be SO nice when State FINALLY gets a quarterback that can throw an accurate ball more than fifteen yards so that the coaches’ are not so limited in their play calling.
* I know that we could fill an entire entry each week with mistakes made in Lincoln Financial television productions, but I think that the crew may have started today with a new record of inaccuracy when their graphic department showed that ‘Tom O’Brien’s record’ is 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the ACC. Wow. Understanding that showing Coach O’Brien’s career record would be too much work, we aren’t even complaining about that. But, how do they miss the fact that this is the 8th ACC game and 12th overall game of the season?
* Speaking stepping up and doing a little work…how hard would it be for the LFN production to show ALL eleven starters for each team’s offense or defense during the starting line-ups at the beginning of the game? I only count eight players per team.
* Looks like the Wolfpack is mailing this one in. We are going to do the same.

Also on ESPN360.com for those outside the region w/o Game Plan.
Maryland QB’s dad was the drummer for RATT.
that’s all i’ve got.
Mcpete:
That. Is. Awesome.
The no-call PI on the Evans interception Killed us. 6-10 point swing.
Of course, it would be nice if the O-line would deign to freaking block someone.
We certainly look like crap today. Looks like Terps to Boise. Damnit.
until we get a quarterback worth a damn, we are going to be 3-8,4-7,5-6 type of a team. That is no disrespect to DE, but he is not a division one quarter back. Plane and simple, he hurts us more than he helps us every day. Obrian is going to be a great coach here and do some good things but unless we qet a qb will are going to struggle
Ug.
Oh well. If you’d have told me we’d have one four-game win streak in the middle of the season, and left it up to me to pick it, I would definitely have gone with the four-game span that started with ECU and ended with UNC-CH.
And ironically, after apologizing heartily to noah at the beginning of the season for thinking TOB’s first team could win 5-9, they somehow did end up on the low end of my predicted range.
Jesus, we need a Goliath to step up into this philistine. He is killing us.
I was hoping to remind him of that after a win today, but at 17-0 midway through the second quarter, that seems highly unlikely now.
Crap, make that a David.
There’s only so far you can go with a QB that has a pop-gun arm. The past 2 weeks, we’ve played well-coached teams that stacked the box against the run and dared Evans to beat them with his arm. Not only is he not making them pay, he’s also giving away points with turnovers.
Hopefully this will change when redshirt Freshman Glennon takes the reins in September 2009. Great coaching got us to 5 wins this year. Thanks, TOB.
Mcpete: everybody knows he’s way cool junior.
I think we might end up losing by 50 today. At least I won’t be tempted to make the trip to Idaho. Not sure I will have the stomach to watch second half. This is uglier than yesterday’s basketball game!
right now i kinda wish Evans’ dad was the drummer for RATT.
Dear god. This hurts, and I just ran out of beer.
ok, turning this off now. pathetic.
Wins over EweNC and EZU . . . I’ll take it and be happy for this year. This season could have been much uglier. Hard to imagine watching this game . . . but true. GO PACK!!!
In the second half, they’ll be …. Wait for it… Back for more.
i don’t understand why state won’t call a timeout with maryland facing a third and long and a minute and a half left. does the staff know they’re down 24 points? have they conceded the game?
since state needs a miracle to win anyway, please just put Beck in and let him throw a few bombs. what’s to lose?
Does that mean that the coach told them to….. Lay it down?
I am almost out of material. Ratt only had so many hits. The laughter helps me cope with my hatred. The lack of a facemask call there at the end of the half says a lot.
New subject. Which is more confusingly incompetent: Jefferson-Pilot productions or ACC officials?
You know we had conceded the half when the coaches left Evans in for the Hail Mary. We needed 65 yards, and his best “bomb” travelled just over half that distance.
“We need to look into doing some things but I guess that’s between Mr. [Lee] Fowler and I when the season’s over.”
Looks like TOB will get to have this conversation sooner rather than later. The way this game is going, they may be chatting during halftime . . .
beo . . . my vote is for ACC officials – although that is a very very very close call.
Jesus, can we put Beck in so we can at least take a shot downfield? I know we can’t win, but at least we could entertain a bit.
