QB Harrison Beck throws 5 interceptions as the Wolfpack losing streak grows to nine. Who will be the first D1 team NC State beats this year?

Tihu6D Thanks a lot for the post. Thanks Again. Keep writing.

Call me crazy but I think it’ll be FSU. They aren’t showing me much so far and I think Beck’s bad passes won’t get intercepted as much against a Man Defense.
Did you guys know it was hot today in Boston?
I think we may have a record going for the highest number of interceptions returned for touchdowns over a stretch of games.
yeah, the announcers mentioned a few times how hot it was.
gosh, our first win might not come till ECU.
carolina just scored on them again, 17-7 with 12 mins in the 2nd.
Anyone want to reconsider their season predictions? I don’t think a single one had the Pack going 0-2 to start the year…
The line opened earlier in the week at -13.5 and I predicted BC would cover that twice over with the score being 37-10.
I should have bet the mortgage.
Why assume that we could beat any Div. 1 school this year? It’s like trying to guess when another team is going to take us real lightly and not show.
I could care less about the QB’s at this point. It’s like paying attention to who gets more wins during the year between the Pirates and the Royals.
I’m not going to have alot of patience with TOB in one facet of the game after many more of these stink bomb performances. That area is the OL. Two RS seniors and a walk on Jr and leading up this charade, and I’ll be pissed if we keep getting our asses handed to us with this personnel. Put in Vermiglio, Roberts, Barbee, and McCuller and get beat up with young men who will be around next year.
“I don’t think a single one had the Pack going 0-2 to start the year…”
I did.
I think if we work very hard and get a little lucky, we can give Wofford a good game. I’m not sure if we win another game. We might get lucky and get one more…but…
This is just a bad, bad football team.
noah just give up and be a carolina fan, maybe comeback when state is good again. the key to be a true fan is going through the good and bad and I don’t know “never giving up”. it is time to stand up and back your team or just go away.
What did he say that was so far off base? This isn’t gopack.com the official “happy place” for the delusional
I’m proud of our defense. Ofcourse they wore down in the second half due to the abismal effort shown by the offense. The announcers loved saying that it was scripted just as BC wanted to do it. “Pass it for the lead, and run at the end to secure the W”. Not having Pressley and Cash was crippling at the end.
Did anyone catch the TD saving tackle by Kuhn on the GL? Break out the lederhoesen cause this boy might be special someday. Another solid game by E. Jones. Sutton and Morgan did a good job today, and you can’t say enough about Bedics and Larsen with the effort they put out. Call me crazy but I’d rather see one of them get a try at OL over some of current failures at heir respected positions.
vtpackfan,
good observations, but my player of the game was #90 5’11 280lb walk-on DT Jermaine Clemmons.
Talk about overmatched. That kid did nothing but plug up his side of the line of scrimmage all afternoon. He may not have filled up the stat sheet but he did his job damned well.
A very admirable fill-in performance by someone who probably otherwise would not have lettered this season.
moomba78,
exactly how did noah offend your sensibilities so?
He is usually spot-on, whether its pretty or not. . . and this football team is certainly not!!
Just looked at Gopack.com.
Clemmons is actually 5’11 255 lbs. Even more impressive.
vtpackfan,
I’m in complete agreement about the abysmal performances from our “experienced” OL. If they continue to suck out loud, then I’m sure some underclassmen can do the same or better and will be better next year when we’ll need them after these seniors leave.
I know it’s never good form to put down a college athlete but this is about strategy and quite frankly I’d rather not waste a year of game play on upperclassmen who can’t get the job done. That goes for any player, you don’t cut it then move out of the way and let someone else in there who can.
Who gave up? Who isn’t pulling for NC State? I watched the entire game until ESPN2 switched the USC-UGa game.
Being a fan means you pull for a particular team. It doesn’t mean you actually expect to win every game. That’s called “being a dumbass.”
Before the year, I thought we’d be pretty awful this year. Next year, I think we’ll be a little better, but not a bowl team. The year after that, I think we’ll be pretty good.
Since I made my prediction of “pretty awful,” we have lost three of our best players and had our right tackle be suspended indefinitely. His backup is a guy who wasn’t even good enough to warrant a single scholarship offer. At the same time, we’re trying to implement and offensive and defensive system that’s ill-suited for the players on our roster.
Now, if you think that all of those things are the recipes for success in football, well…see my comment about “being a dumbass.” if you think that “fans” shouldn’t say such things out loud…see my comment about “being a dumbass.”
I agree with VT, the defense looked good. They were worn down near the end, need to work on conditioning, State actually had possession longer than BC.
I think VT hit it on the head earlier, the OL is the major problem with this team, we do not have one that can open a hole. Not having an OL makes it impossible to run the ball, BC was getting good penetration into the backfield while only rushing 3. This caused Beck to have to move more, we already knew his footwork needed work, this showed along with him trying to maybe do too much and putting the ball in bad spots.
I think this year is a wash (much the way I felt about last year BBall), go ahead and wish those seniors who are not doing the job best of luck in the future and move in the underclassmen for the experience. I think it is time to stick with Beck and start to build and learn for next year.
Speaking of bad OL play, how could Garrett Kline warrant a scholarship?
Once TOB gets a hold of these guys and let’s them know just how much they blow, then and maybe then will this team actually perform. Chuck sure did make a mark on this program. Sure, we have the facilities…
I don’t know how you can just “stick with Beck” after that performance.
What other ‘long-term’ options do we have. I think the decision making problems can be fixed, the larger problem is the OL
I don’t blame Beck for a couple of those INTs (honestly, I stopped counting once it looked like he might challenge Terry Harvey’s record). He had zero time to throw, had three guys in his face and was throwing off his back foot to avoid the sack.
But yeah, a couple were pretty bad.
I don’t know how you can just “stick with Beck” after that performance.
Because we don’t have anyone that is any better?
we had really limited penalties today.
I didn’t notice any “flapping arms” either – did any of ya’ll see any?
Both of those are really good signs in my book that our attitude and discpline is improving.
Beck did just get swarmed several times, and will have to learn not to launch the ball in those situations. We are also going to have to run the ball to the outside, and not just up the middle.
The D was just awesome. They really kept us in this game. Definitely the bright spot of the game.
I saw Nate Irving and Javon Walker celebrating a couple of times, but it was your normal “I made a good play” enthusiasm and I never minded that. They didn’t look like they were talking crap.
