Official: Chris Wright to Georgetown & No Hoops for Brackman

Couple quick afternoon notes.

* Andrew Brackman wasn’t at media day, and his name wasn’t on the roster.

* Chris Wright changed his mind on Monday and picked Georgetown. He has a PC this afternoon and made his pick official.

* Don’t miss some of our related conversation in this entry from earlier today.

A couple of editorial comments:

* We say “No Means Go” and encourage NC State to continue to pursue Chris Wright until he actually signs his letter of intent with Georgetown in the signing period. Any kid that can be so wishy-washy on his decision can’t be totally committed to anywhere. (For the record, after informing NC State of his intentions to run witht he Pack, Wright informed the coaches late last night that he had changed his mind at the last minute).

* We will do our best not to be total assholes to the ignoramouses that talked so much shit about SFN on other message boards since we first told you about Brackman in July (Link) and then updated you twice in September (Link #1; Link #2)

We will have more on both topics later.

Like Alfalfa once said…I’m hurt, I’m confused, and I don’t know what to say. No comment!

It could be worse, we could all live in North Korea.

Thanks for the jinx DuDe17. Take it back NOW!!!

  5. Gene 10/10/2006 at 4:03 PM #

Bit your tongue NCSUDude17, never say things like that or else the might just happen.

Would’ve been nice to have Wright, but I guess we’ll have to live without him.

Hey would you rather have Wright and Herb, or Sidney and future pg’s?

  7. class of 74 10/10/2006 at 4:07 PM #

^no brainer. The easy button answer is Coach Lowe.

  8. ncsuman 10/10/2006 at 4:09 PM #

My thoughts exactly, which makes this easier to digest.

  9. primacyone 10/10/2006 at 4:10 PM #

Same time, same place on Thursday?

  10. Six Pack 10/10/2006 at 4:10 PM #

Well, if Sendek were still here there’s no guarantee that we would get Wright until he signed on signing day, and we would still would have Sendek.

Man, what a nightmare scenario that would be!!!!

I posted this on the other thread, but it seems to fit here:

This puts a lot of pressure on Degand for the ‘08 season — with Atsur’s graduation, he’ll be the only PG on the roster next year — unless State lands a local kid like Tyree Graham (not sure how actively involved the Pack has been with the Durham PG).

What ‘08 PGs is State pursuing at the moment? Outside of a handful of kids, from what I’ve read ‘08 is not a big PG year and I haven’t seen State seriously listed with any elite 2008 PGs at this juncture. I’ve read locally that State may be interested in a Charlotte Christian PG (Pitts?), but I don’t think he is considered an elite (top 100) prospect.

Sometimes when you lose you win. Sometimes when you win you lose.

    Sometimes.

I keep thinking about Daniel Evans and why Amato gave the kid a scholly.

And I also think about how Wake shut down Brent Schaeffer.

Hopefully this will turn out the same way.

I bear no ill will towards CW. In fact, I cant help but admire the way the kid handled himself the entire time. Nothing but class as far as I’m concerned. No doubt we lost on this one, but there is whole other bunch coming in ’08. Lowe has a lot more time than just CW’s recruitment to prove that he can recruit.

I say good luck at Georgetown to CW. Just dont come to Raleigh and expect to not get heckled. It aint personal. Its just how we are.

Wierd note. Something inside tells me G’Town is looking good for JJ Hickson. I know its crazy, but I dont think its impossible.

Once again, PLEASE let go of the Sendek debate. No reason whatsoever to regurgitate all of that.

    ^ here freaking here

yeah… I have a not so good feeling that Hickson will head to GTown as well….

    oh well… whatever.

cant miss something you never had, right?!

I’m a bit confuse-ed…I thought G’town was out of scholarships to offer one. Did the rescend an offer to another player or am I just imagining all of this like some weird Wayne’s World dream sequence?

  18. RamblinRed 10/10/2006 at 4:57 PM #

Hickson cancelled his G’town visit. Word in Marietta has been he is leaning to TN. Have to wait until Thur so find out for sure. I would expect that Wright’s decision does not help much with JJ. JJ wants to go somewhere where he will be featured and where he can win quickly as he is planning a short stay before jumping to the NBA.

Schools can and routinely do have more scholarship commitments than they have offers for. UNC did this before their monster class last year expecting early departures. Schools are under no restrictions in how many commits they can take, only that there is only 13 scholarship players come fall.

Ah hell. It’s football season, boys. Why worry today about what we can worry about tomorrow. And when I’m down, bluegrass always makes me feel better:

RAWFS – Interesting angle. Do you think we might think about Brock Young from Broughton? He is committed to ECTC but you know he would love the Pack & the ACC. Probably not a great idea but an undersized QB from Broughton worked out pretty good – maybe an undersized PG from the same school.

I was equally crushed when Curtis Hunter turned us down. Thought it would be difficult for V to overcome. But this is just putting a ribbon on a turd. I really feel for Lowe to be that high and then get a call like that at the last minute. You hate to be paranoid but you just have to wonder what turned the deal.

  21. class of 74 10/10/2006 at 5:03 PM #

^I’m laughing. Something reminded me of that line in Animal House “you f’-up you trusted me.”

  22. choppack1 10/10/2006 at 5:05 PM #

As I stated in another post, I don’t think it’s fair to give any kind of judgement in this situation or the Hickson situation on Lowe’s ability as a recruiter, or more specifically a closer.

In 2007 and 2008, the field will be more level. He will be able offer prospects not only a vision, but proof of what he will be doing to showcase and enhance their skills.

Don’t get me wrong, the loss of Wright and the likelihood of the loss of Hickson is a huge blow to our short term hopes and dreams. However, these results say nothing about his strengths or weaknesses as a recruiter.

  23. IrishPackFan 10/10/2006 at 5:10 PM #

Ah well…we shouldn’t be sweatin’ it now. Its not over ’til the Fat Lady sings and she won’t be singing ’til Signing Day. I have enough faith in Lowe to know that he will continuously pursue this cat ’til the day he signs with G’town. As for JJ; why wouldn’t he want to come here. According to Lowe a majority of our points would come from the center in an up-tempo style so he would definately cash in on some serious pointage. I guess we’ll find out on Thursday…

Besides, GAWolf has it right; it’s football season and we have some serious ACC arse to kick this coming weekend!

  24. class of 74 10/10/2006 at 5:11 PM #

And I don’t keep up with this like some of you guys do, but if Hickson is a one or two year and gone type then do we really need that?
