Pack Already in Heels’ Heads

If you haven’t caught this little nugget yet this afternoon, do yourself a favor and check out the N&O’s fluff piece du jour entitled UNC players have been talking about Pack since the summer.  While not intentionally written with any sort of pro-Wolfpack slant whatsoever, it should still be entertaining for any Pack fan nonetheless.

A few priceless quotes to get you started….

From Sylvester Williams:

  • “Last year, one of my best friends, Tydreke Powell, he cried because he was like, ‘I wanted to beat State before I left.”
  • “All I remember from last year was us not being able to have much success on offense and us only having one sack on Glennon,” Williams said. “The biggest thing is that after that game, I literally went to sleep for the next 30 minutes.”
From Tommy Heffernan:
  • “We’ve been losing to them the last five years in a row – we’re kind of tired of hearing all that.”
  • “They have all the rights to say it, but come Saturday, I think we’re going to get after it. It’s definitely going to be a big win for us if we get it.” (bold added by me)
  • “[Last year] They kind of jumped the gun on us early and we just couldn’t do anything,”
Something to remember, and I hope this is being stressed to the Pack players this week as well:
While it has twice won five consecutive games in the 118-year-old series, N.C. State has never stretched it to six against UNC.
Lots of great conversations going on over in the SFN Forums, including many dealing with Saturday’s game versus the CHeats.  You should really go check it out.

There will likely be one of two outcomes regarding UNX’s marathon emphasis and talking about this game:

(1). They will match intensity with concentration and play a supurb game. Penalties will be mainly agressive nature vs lack of concentration.

(2). They will have intensity, but will be worried so much about the outome that they do not perform well and have alot of mental mistakes and stupid penalties.

I think the latter is more likely. And, I hope that translates into a win for us. A mitigating factor for them is the fast pace of their offense and wearing down our heavy linemen, resulting in a big, big day for Gio.

I just wouldn’t put any money on this game, even with the spread.

Wow , that one kid almost slept for a whole half hour. I bet loosing to the pack makes it a humiliating experience in class. HA!

Is it possible to want this one more than last year’s game? I ask myself that same question every year no matter what the previous year’s result.

    GO PACK!
