1979 Remembered

A great retrospective and information with which all younger Wolfpackers should spend some time familiarizing themselves.

I barely remember that football season. I was in middle school then. It’s about time to win another ACC championship.

I was born in 1983 and haven’t got to experience an outright championship. I love the Wolfpack as if it is a human being. I’m proud of them when they win and spread the word and gloat and I also get pissed and mad as hell when their not prepared to play. I’ll be on pin and needles Saturday watching them play. Hopefully they are prepared and then I can go down to Charlotte and cheer them on against the turkeys. In the end I love OUR Pack no matter the outcome.

More than any other reason I hope that we could make it to the Title game and perhaps pull it off for the sake of the WPers who are too young to remember when we were actually respected in sports.

I was a NCSU soph in 1979 and still cannot figure out how we beat WFU, Clemson, lost our ONLY ACC game to UNC (who lost 3), but all of them went to bowls and we sat at home. A typical total lack of respect from the bowl selection idiots. I am at a point now as long as NCSU or FSU wins the ACC, I will be happy – my daughter is a senior at FSU… Go Atlantic… 🙂

My first State game was that season, the fall of my soph year in HS. Fall Open House day. Rained cats and other small mammals that day. We were in the upper west stands. Parking lot was a muddy swamp. Despite all that it sealed the deal as far as where I would go to school.
