GREENSBORO – Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford was given an 89 percent pay raise, to $1.68 million, in the 2008-09 fiscal year, making him the third highest paid league honcho in the country.

Swofford has recently been the focus of a lot of discussion amongst fans of league schools – including this popular entry we ran last week. You can click here for a list of our recent discussions from our message boards, including this hot one from last week.

The blog and the SFN Forums are being over-run with fantastic work and conversation, so please make sure to spend some time scrolling down and catching up on everything. We want to surpass 30,000 page views today and the only way we can do it is for everyone to dive deep and drive conversations for people to refresh their browsers a lot. A few recent items include Cowdog’s fantastic personal account of State-Carolina football; State’s very tough OOC schedule, State football by the numbers, and of course Thorp & Co. letting the BOT know all is well over at the Flagship. Feel free to discuss all of this and much more at the SFN Forums.

That means he’s been paid $1.68 million per word, because he hasn’t said two words about Carolinx’s scandal.

Does this reference his salary or his hush money?

I can see why he has not voluntarily stepped down, which would be the only right thing to do in his, conflict of interest, situation. Are there procedures in place that would allow for his removal? (I mean, come on, you guys helped get rid of Lee, how hard can this be? : ) UNC-Cheat is ruining the reputation of the conference, a 2nd-tier (or 3rd?) football conference at that, our honor is all we’ve got!
