Shocker!!!! Two more UNC players ruled permanently ineligible

I will save the commentary for someone else. This news has been a long time coming as rumors have persisted that this ruling was inevitable.

University of North Carolina football players Devon Ramsay and Michael McAdoo have been ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA, UNC director of football communications Kevin Best said Monday.

The university said that it will appeal the decision to the Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement, an independent panel comprised of representatives from NCAA member colleges, universities and athletic conferences. This committee can reduce or remove the condition. The student-athletes remain ineligible until the conclusion of the appeals process.

“While we respect the decision, the facts of the cases simply do not support permanent ineligibility,” UNC Director of Athletics Dick Baddour said. “We will aggressively appeal and are hopeful the reinstatement committee will reach the same conclusion.”

Our rival bloggers over at IC are looking up the defintion of PERMANENT. They are also trying to get in touch with WJC to explore his logic on the definition of the word, “IS”. Disbelief, despair, desolation, demoralized, and any other D work you would like to use have been used there.

OPPS….forgot DENIAL, as that is the MAIN thing they are talking about.

TOB sounds really LOOSE tonight on his radio show. He was decked out an a RED blazer last night on the TV show.

Let’s hope, and I am beginning to feel better about this, that he and the team have the right level of intensity and focus for this week’s game.

GO PACK….TOB for CoY and RW for PoY

wonder what will come of this?

Maybe if they say it enough the rest of us will start to believe it.

  5. baxter 11/15/2010 at 10:15 PM #

Me thinks the NCAA is tired of their bs over there.

  6. baxter 11/15/2010 at 10:15 PM #

Then again, it would be soooooo nice to know the facts of the cases. FERPA much?

  7. SuperStuff 11/15/2010 at 10:22 PM #

That school stinks. They need to go deep into that basketball program as well.

WRAL said Ramsay played in the first four games of the 2010 season for the heels. they beat Rutgers and ECU. are those games now forfeited?

  9. jpack 11/15/2010 at 10:34 PM #

They used these ineligible players all year long, so does this mean they’ll be forfeiting their wins? How about previous years? Like SuperStuff, I hope they take a hard look at the BB program as well. The whole Ellington/Hansborough houses/jobs deals needs to be investigated.

According to UNC’s release, the NCAA will not require the Tar Heels to forfeit the two wins in which Ramsay played this year.

Per a post on the ACCNow blog:

Wanna hear something funny???? The other players that got suspended got lighter punishment because the tuto was working for Butch Davis when she helped them cheat. When Mcadoo and Ramsey cheated, the tutor was still working for the athletic department. That is called a loophole. Otherwise EVERY single player caught up in this scandal would be permanently ineligible. UNC-CHeat is as lucky as they are dirty.

More in denial – Dick Baddour or Tobias Funke? Discuss.

  12. DividedWeFall 11/15/2010 at 11:12 PM #

Narrator: Tobias listens to a day’s worth of his own words, to see what Michael was referring to…
Tobias Fünke: [on tape] … even if it means me taking a chubby, I will suck it up.
Tobias Fünke: Nothing wrong with that.
Tobias Fünke: [on tape] Oh, I’ve been in the film business for a while, but I just can’t seem to get one in the can.
Tobias Fünke: It’s out of context.
Tobias Fünke: [on tape] I wouldn’t mind kissing that man between the cheeks.
Narrator: …and he realized there is something distinct about the way he speaks.
    Tobias Fünke: Tobias, you blowhard.
    [chuckles]

Time for the BOG to form a team to investigate the tarheels to make sure they are not selling their shoes….UNC talks the talk but a long way from walking the walk. Hope the NCAA sees this and fries their taters.

Tobias: I’m afriad I just blue myself.
Dick Baddour: He said some wonderful things

McAdoo was at Hargeave, too. Right?

  16. section2chuck 11/16/2010 at 8:27 AM #

I just love how they keep appealing the NCAA’s suspensions…me thinks the NCAA is tiring of this crowd…drop the hammer, on them scumbags..

Based on the Tar Heel presence on the BOG, don’t count on it. (I saw that blog on SFN before they took it down…)

From my laundry list in another post:
So let’s see now. Thus far we have the following:
    1) Marvin Austin receiving improper benefits.
    2) Greg Little receiving improper benefits.
    3) Robert Quinn receiving improper benfits.
    4) Burney receiving improper benefits.
    5) Deunta Williams receiving improper benefits.
    6) some type of cheating scandal involving a tutor (we’re not sure of the players here, it’s not exactly been a transparent process).
    7) Hawkins – a former UNC player kicked off the team by previous coach – providing improper benefits.
    8. The tutor formerly employed by the University as a tutor then dismissed for being too close to players – also current HC son’s tutor – providing improper financial benefits.
    9) Former UNC player Hakeem Nicks providing improper benefits.
    10) Former UNC player Omar Brown providing improper benefits.
    11) John Blake contacting players for another university.
    12) Michael McAdoo suspended permanently. (Is this academics, improper benefits or both?)
    13) Devon Ramsey suspended permanently. (See above.

This is just the stuff we know right now. This is 13 players/former players/ others with ties to UNC directly involved in wrongdoing. The truth is alot of this stuff – w/ the exception of Austin and Quinn – is kind of nickel and dime crap. However, you can’t argue that you were minding the hen house when you’ve got a laundry list like this.

One thing worth noting – these suspensions occurred AFTER the NCAA moved into the academic “review” (essentially taking over the UNC investigation). To be fair, McAdoo was suspended earlier – but the NCAA has dropped the hammer on him.

    Forget the BOG
Best thing about this is the “slow bleed” then the hammer.

At the least this season is ruined – they had assembled a team good enough for a big time splash even with BMFD’s coaching
