Things are getting ready to blow up on the Hill…

Black Santa has left the building. More should follow.

Is Blake resigning the big “happening” that has been alluded to over the last few days? Or is there still something more yet to go down? I saw where all the suspended players are now allowed to practice so that would suggest things might be clearing up. No?

Ho, Ho, Ho. I suspect we might see a lot of moving vans hitting CH over the next week or so…

None of which will absolve UNC from the coming NCAA tsunami.

I’m so confused. I thought he didn’t do anything wrong? 😀

All I can say is that UNX has got what they deserved hiring a coach like Butch Davis. We are lucky the same thing didn’t happen to us when CTC was here. When your coach comes from FL, especially south FL, this is what you get.

First in a series of dominoes going down?

  9. Packster 09/05/2010 at 7:49 PM #

Let’s hope the big domino comes soon.

do tell yall!!! It will not be long til Butch calls it quits. I suspect the athletics dept is already floating trial balloons for a new coach

A post appeared on HokieHaven from a guy with REALLY good sources:

“Hearing that the recruiting stuff (A LOT OF STUFF) on Blake is about to blow. MA is talking like a stuffed pig. BD is about to be gone as well. Academics, agents, money, and illegal recruiting. This is a made-for-HBO-miniseries.”

LOL!!! If I wasn’t almost 60 years old, I’d be doing cartwheels down the street!!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

And just look at how well manicured that press release is.

Makes me wonder when they actually made the decision for him to ‘step down’.

IT’S AWESOME BABY! THE ONLY WAY UNX CAN WIN IS TO CHEAT!

Talked to a friend who still lives in Raleigh for 1.5 hrs Friday night and we both believed this was coming but had NO idea it was going to be this soon. This can only mean the rumors we have been hearing about how bad things really are…are true.
We had a great time laughing Friday night and I sure can’t help but having a big cheshire cat grin on my face right now. You could not have scripted a more complete display of stupidity coupled with arrogance than what has been shown so far by the white tower of virtue & righteousness known as unx.

This is MASSIVE news. This is escalating quickly.

How is he still getting the $74k for the rest of the season if he is resigning? The article says it will come from football revenues, not tax money. Wouldn’t just cutting him loose without pay look better, and relieve some of the financial burden elsewhere at the school? This doesn’t really make sense to me.

  18. newt 09/05/2010 at 8:38 PM #

I think UNC is floating the Blake resignation to see if folks start to view them as “all clear” and then if that doesn’t work Butch will follow.

I don’t think the Butch regime is that great that I would be excited if he were to go. What has Butch ever won that’s so great?

  19. PackMan97 09/05/2010 at 8:43 PM #

I couldn’t be more relived that we have TOB as our head coach right now and that almost all the guys on our staff are long time TOB assistants.

“Wouldn’t just cutting him loose without pay look better, and relieve some of the financial burden elsewhere at the school? This doesn’t really make sense to me.”

Often cash is given in return for agreeing to not pursue any legal claim; improper firing and such. Also may have had a severance clause in his contract. $74k is small change for the job he had.

If Blake left because Austin squealed to the investigators from the Secretary of States office, I just might vote for Elaine Marshall for Senate.

  22. mikeD 09/05/2010 at 9:02 PM #

^smile102, but he resigned and didn’t get fired. No need for severance then. I suppose it might be the agreement not to sue, or some kind of clause in the contract.

Is his contract public since he works for a public university? That would be interesting to look into.

  23. packbackr04 09/05/2010 at 9:28 PM #

hearing defense attorneys have been brought in, money laundering at play.

  24. BloggerEsquire 09/05/2010 at 9:29 PM #

Kind of assume that his severance contract has a stay-quiet to anyone clause- I could see that being worth at least $74k to the rest of the coaching staff and UNC’s athletics program.
