After being tabbed as the preseason #3 pick in the SoCon by conference coaches, App has had a rocky beginning to 2014, first dropping 3 straight @Arka

I’m willing to wager that the high our scoring average, the more strikeouts our pitchers throw…
But, that’s probably obvious to everyone else.
02/21/2014 at 10:54 AM #41873elvislivesParticipantLet’s keep those bats hot for the weekend!
02/21/2014 at 1:17 PM #41883VaWolf82Keymasterthere will be plenty of time for throwing in a bunch of stats that nobody reads
I’m hurt.
02/21/2014 at 1:38 PM #41886FergusWolfParticipant^ I’m with Wufpacker, the stats don’t really show anything yet. No pitcher has started twice, number of at-bats are not statistically significant yet. At 10-15 games into the season, they should start to round out.
02/21/2014 at 2:13 PM #41891kornegaylwSpectatorI’m glad to see that we can schedule App for all sports that count except football…because we really want to see L-Tech, S. Alabama, ODU, C. Mich, etc.

And I think Va, being the confirmed stats nerd that he is, was more keying on the “that nobody reads” part.
Sorry Va, I didn’t mean to generalize. You are, of course, one of the rare exceptions.
02/21/2014 at 5:39 PM #41912WufpackerParticipantPack leads 3-2 after 6 innings.
Rodon looking strong (6 Ks and much better command than his last outing), but thus far suffering from lack of run support again.
02/21/2014 at 6:16 PM #41917WufpackerParticipant6-5 after 7.5
9 Ks for Rodon (4 errors behind him)
App’s Jaylin Davis just seems to be a bad matchup for Rodon (3 run HR today; Had 3 run HR vs Rodon last year too)
02/21/2014 at 6:36 PM #41919WufpackerParticipantDJ Thomas and Andrew Woeck combine to toss a scoreless 9th, including 2 Ks for Thomas and a save for Woeck.
Pack wins 6-5
02/22/2014 at 1:58 PM #41942WufpackerParticipantLogan Jernigan looking strong thru 3 innings, Pack leads 2-0.
02/22/2014 at 3:26 PM #42031WufpackerParticipantFinal Saturday…7-0 good guys.
Logan Jernigan and Jon Olczak combine for a 2 hitter for the Pack.02/22/2014 at 6:35 PM #42168BJD95KeymasterYay, Pack Nine! Hope the Happy Appies brought some bud to share post-game. Remember, sharing is caring.
02/23/2014 at 3:46 PM #42220WufpackerParticipantJake Armstrong comes up clutch today, breaking a 1-1 tie with a 2 out 2 run shot in the bottom of the 8th.
Pack9 wins 3-1 to sweep App.
Temple transfer Eric Peterson gets the win in relief.02/23/2014 at 4:13 PM #42221VaWolf82KeymasterAnd I think Va, being the confirmed stats nerd that he is, was more keying on the “that nobody reads” part.
I’ve been called a lot of things, but that might have been my first “nobody”.
There’s no sport like baseball for stats.02/24/2014 at 9:30 AM #42233Classof89ParticipantDespite their 0-fer record, I was impressed with App. State. Their pitchers more or less made us scratch and claw for every run we got. Armstrong’s game winner on Sunday was the Pack’s only homer of the weekend. And even though we scored seven runs on Saturday, the first run in that game illustrates my point: Turner walked, reached 2nd on a throwing error, stole third, and came home on another throwing error (can’t remember if it was wild pitch or wild pickoff attempt). Their previous four losses were to a nationally ranked Arkansas team and then to another SEC team…
