01/20/2014 at 9:52 AM #37734BJD95KeymasterCat memes return. WOOOOOOO!!!!!!
01/20/2014 at 11:35 AM #37739VaWolf82KeymasterCBS Sports breaks down SOS into non-conference, conference, and overall. Of the six teams in the middle of the conference (per RPI), State has the toughest conference SOS by a good margin. So unless you expected to State to contend for the upper 1/3 of the conference, then the results to date aren’t surprising. (And if you expected State to finish near the top of the conference, then there isn’t much that I can say.)
If State is actually in the middle of the conference, then it needs to win the next two games and prove it. If State is actually in the bottom 1/3 of the conference (which the loss to NC-Central has always suggested), then get ready for a whole lot of ugly.
01/20/2014 at 11:54 AM #37741FergusWolfParticipantAs I started to read this article…my thought was…which Terp player was going to up his game and be the person responsible for the @ss whipping we are going to receive tonight…
And then, as I read on, I was reminded that Dez Wells is a Raleigh native…
Now, Dez (to Maryland through Xavier), averages 14pts per game, so he shouldn’t sneak up on us as some previously unknown wunderkind have in the past…but still…
I’m predicting that Dez goes off for 31 pts, shooting 5-8 from the 3pt line, and hitting 10 free throws.
Result UMD 82, NCSU 55. At least this time we keep the differential under 30.
01/20/2014 at 12:14 PM #37742graywolfParticipantThis will not be pretty…..not sure I can bear to watch.
01/20/2014 at 12:37 PM #37743PapaWolfParticipantNah, we won’t lose by 27. Too easy!! We’d all get home early, avoid the traffic, and blow off the rest of the season. It is our lot to suffer. Tied with 5 minutes left, lose by 10. Dez Wells eats us up.
VaWOlf – Totally agree. Syracuse, UVA, Duke, Pitt, and UNC are out of reach for us this year. We’ve got to earn any respect with wins against GT, FSU, Miami, Wake (crap!), Clemson, BC and start tonight against Maryland.
01/20/2014 at 1:21 PM #37748bill.onthebeachParticipantTHERE IS NO WAY WE GET BLOWN OUT TONIGHT !
forget… everything you have seen on the court from the kids in red the last couple of weeks…
… playing at home for the last time in the foreseeable future against the Twerps… I am 100% counting on our crowd to keep our guys in this game. Go early, drink alot, do what you have to do…. but…
remember… The Old Lefthander…
remember… Elmore and MacMillan…
remember… Old Sweaty Gary…
remember… how the old noise meter in Reynolds used to work and make THIS happen….Just give the Twerps ALL the “respect” they have earned since 1954.
That’s all the ‘ghosts on the south smoking porch’ and Dr. Deb require of us…
#NCSU-North Carolina's #1 FOOTBALL school!01/20/2014 at 2:01 PM #3774913OTParticipantThe one bad sign for tonight’s contest is that we’re playing a home ACC game.
And for those who think we’ve seen the last of the Terps, think again. The bottom-feeders in the ACC and B1G usually get paired against each other in the annual ACC-Big Ten Challenge. ESPN will see to that.
01/20/2014 at 2:09 PM #37750FergusWolfParticipantThe problem, as you all know, is that this team can’t take a hard punch to the jaw and get back up.
It happened against Cincinnati, NC Central, Missouri, Pitt, UVA, and Duke. Sometimes the hard right came early, other times later, but as soon as it did, we packed up our tent and left.
I’ve stripped my list of “I hope we”‘s for this year too…
– Get our young bigs a lot of playing time so they have the experience for next year
– Same for Cat, his ceiling is high, he’s just overwhelmed right now
– That we find a way to get past this “glass jaw issue”
– DW forces Gott to hire a new defensive coordinatorOther than that, it would be nice if we could win 3 or 4 more games this year.
01/20/2014 at 3:18 PM #37754Pack85EEParticipantI’m still a bit optimistic. We expected this team to show their youth including getting knocked around early but they should improve more than most through the season because of the youth. That said, if we won all the reasonably winnable games (not likely) we would be 10-8 in conference. Win the next 3 and hope remains, 2 of next 3 and we believe we can be competitive, maybe make NIT, win only one or none – just look for the occasional brilliant game, and follow football recruiting. And there’s always Russell, Steven, JR and Nate. A Wolfpacker will win the Superbowl.
01/20/2014 at 3:18 PM #37755wufpup76KeymasterIt’s Maryland. Nothing positive will happen.
Plus, we’re not very good.
Let’s just get this over with.
01/20/2014 at 3:23 PM #37756Pack85EEParticipantAny detailed word on Freeman. I didn’t know he was out of action in the Duke game until after a couple substitutions inside he had not come in. Today I just read a sprained ankle. Any details?
01/20/2014 at 5:06 PM #37761TexpackParticipantI posted during the game Saturday that the only ACC loss to date that hurts us was the Wake game. I think VaWolf’s stats confirm this. Everyone said we were a middle of the pack team at the beginning of the year. I wouldn’t give up on this team yet. If we are going to sneak onto the NCAA Bubble, Cat Barber has to play a whole lot better. His carelessness with the basketball is costing us 12-14 points per game because everyone of his turnovers turns into a snow bird.
I’m also ready to put three shooters on the floor at once, but that may have to wait another year or two.
01/20/2014 at 5:51 PM #37763JohnGalt78ParticipantMiddle of what pack? We’re not sneaking anywhere unless everyone else starts playing a lot worse. Seriously, we probably won’t make the NIT this year.
01/20/2014 at 6:28 PM #37765WeAreCuredParticipantMaryland – 76

How do you add a picture?01/20/2014 at 7:40 PM #37774bill.onthebeachParticipantBennett’s ‘Hoos currently sticking it too Uncle Roy’s Holes….
The outcome could be insightful as to the reason the season.

Just above your text box (where you write the body of your post) you should see a row of html tag buttons.
To post an image, click the ‘img’ button – this will prompt you for the image url – copy/paste your selected image url when prompted; you will then be prompted for a description of the image – this is completely optional and not necessary. Hit ok, and you’ll see code as follows:

his kids are wearing on him or he’s deeply troubled….
Just quietly watching Bennetts ‘Hoos take care of business which is somehow making me feel better about that disaster a couple of weeks ago.
#NCSU-North Carolina's #1 FOOTBALL school!01/20/2014 at 8:37 PM #37787Fastback68ParticipantIt’s too bad the ACC didn’t just go ahead and schedule us an at syracuse and an at Pittsburgh doubleheader yesterday so that we could have stuck a fork in this –itpile already.
01/20/2014 at 8:44 PM #37789SaccoVParticipantThis has to be UVa’s year to make a serious run. If Bennett doesn’t make the Sweet 16 this year, I don’t believe he ever will.
01/20/2014 at 8:48 PM #37792bill.onthebeachParticipantBennett definitely has his horses hitched to the wagon and pulling together….
Holes are going down tonight.
Marcus Page has been a very good imitation of Cat on three, four or five all night
and Poor Old Uncle Roy just doesn’t know what to do with that. He certainly can’t put him on the bench.#NCSU-North Carolina's #1 FOOTBALL school!01/20/2014 at 8:49 PM #37794wufpup76KeymasterA smattering of UVa fans/students chanting ‘NIT’ at *Nx … lol
01/20/2014 at 8:53 PM #37796packer74ParticipantGood night so far as the Heels get hammered.
