University of Nevada head men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman has inked North Carolina State transfers, Caleb and Cody Martin to scholarship agreements to play for the Wolf Pack. The twins will sit out the 2016-17 season under NCAA transfer rules and play for the Pack in 2017-18. Each will have two seasons to compete for the Wolf Pack.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Caleb and Cody have joined our family here at Nevada,” Musselman said. “Both Caleb and Cody have proven themselves at the highest level of college basketball in the ACC and, like Hallice and Kendall, are high-character young men from phenomenal families that will further augment the Nevada basketball brand nationally.”
Both are forwards that stand 6-7, Caleb weights 215-pounds and Cody 210-pounds. Their hometown is Mocksville, N.C. They played one season at Oak Hill Academy (Va.) after playing three years at Davie County High School in North Carolina. As seniors they helped the Warriors to a 41-4 record and runner-up finish in the Dick’s Sporting Goods High School National Tournament. As juniors they helped Davie County to a sectional title.
Caleb played in all 33 games last season at NC State and earned 19 starts. He averaged 11.5 points and 4.7 rebounds in 30.5 minutes per game as a sophomore. From the field he shot 38.9 percent which included 36.1 percent from behind the arc. At the free throw line he connected on 66.7 percent of his attempts. His freshman year he averaged 4.7 points and 2.9 rebounds, playing 16.6 minutes per game. He appeared in all 36 games and made one start.
His senior year at Oak Hill he was ranked as the No. 62 recruit in the ESPN 100, 60th by Rivals.com and 46th by Scout.com. He was selected to the all-tournament team at the Dick’s Sporting Goods High School National Tournament and also earned all-conference and all-district honors.
Cody also appeared in all 33 games and started 16 in his sophomore season at NC State. He averaged six points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 rebounds in 25.8 minutes per game. From the field he connected on 46.7 percent of his attempts and shot 59.7 percent at the free throw line. As a freshman he saw action in 19 games and started three. In 11.4 minutes per game he averaged 3.4 points, two rebounds and shot 47.5 percent from the field.
As a prep senior he was ranked 91st in the ESPN 100 and 81st by Rivals.com. He was named the MVP of the 2014 Oak Hill Academy squad along with earning all-conference and all-district honors. The twins parents are Jenny Eure and Tyrone Martin. Cody was born one minute prior to Caleb.
