I have been thinking about all the UNC mess. I finally decided that it is like Barum – Bailey meets Professor Harold Hill. This time there is a three ring circus. The UNC Admin are doing a juggling act in the center….can’t you just picture Carol Folt in alight blue TuTu as the “assistant”. Bubba is the center juggler. Ken Wainstein (dressed in a Zoot Suit with $$ and ?? on it running around.
On the outside ring, the BOT clowns are showing off in their little light blue Smart Car, which they have converted to electric. They are all dressed, appropriately as clown, and trying to get as many in as possible.
In the OTHER ring we have 10 young men. 5 in blue and 5 in white. They are playing Fuut Volley in honor of FIFA. Roy Williams, dressed as Huckleberry Hound Clown is chasing Larry Fedora and they are chasing each other’s tales.
Lots of cameo appearances by the ghosts of Bill Friday and Charles Kaurralt. And THEN, the heavens open up and Jimmy V, replete in Red Warmup, comes down with a harp and wings and calls on Dean smith to “splain” AFAM to him.
At which time Uncle Julius and Deborah Crowder (ever see an Uncle Ben’s Rice box or a Pancake mix box?) appear and start changing grades and bowing to Dean. The “joker” shows up…and it is Wayne Weldon and ORW falls down and pushed up a bouquet of light blue daises…
BUT, the REAL show is outside. It is the Newest Side Show (if you every went to the Zebulon Fair….you have the image)…
The Carney hawker has been replaced. It is The Village People featuring Marvin. They have a NEW song to lure folks into the side show….before they go in…
Lots of OTHER things going on. Songs written by Jimmy Webb about the Dean Dome and “By the time I get to Chapel Hill…”
