Damn, Talk about a call out

Like the ‘old school’ upbraiding; goes right to the heart of what this operation is and has been for decades.
There were comments in the UNC-Cheat forum. Mainly about how bland or trivial AD Yow was about this. She really can NOT do much now….you have to wait until the NCAA finally (hope I’m still alive) metes out punishment.
This article really goes to the crux of it. It is time that the Consolidated UNC BOG addresses this matter.
As an “old gas producing humanoid”, I was THERE when Jimmy V was lynched. CD Spangler, the then President of the Consolidated UNC BOG, launched an investigation. Dr. Poulton was relieved of duties. Dr. Monteith then imposed rigorous academic (and recruiting) sanctions….and we hired Todd Turner to dismantle our Athletic Department.
As AD Yow points out, we have put the word “Student” back in Student Athletes and have self policed ourselves. What sticks in my craw is that at the same time, Coach Dean Smith and John Swofford were hatching up their little AFAM at UNC (patterned after Kansas) scheme. Then ORW came along and brought Wayne Weldon (who is currently in Witness Protection) to refine it.
The BOG needs to be taking up this matter. THEY need to have the SAME zealous attitude that CD did and “supposedly” Dr. Friday did. Dr. Friday MUST be spinning like a rotating orb in his grave.
Folks need to take this to heart. Email or send letters to the Gov and the legislators and also to Mrs. Margaret Spellings, the President of the Consolidated UNC system. IF the BOG would take action, then I think a LOT of folks, including WP and NON-WP’ers, would feel vindicated…
OK…rant over….
Let the boycott begin, I will not attend any game UNC is playing in and I will not watch on TV any game UNC is playing in!
I’d join the boycott. But other than N.C. State games, I pretty much quit watching college athletics a while back.
