N.C. State @ Florida State – 1:30pm

N.C. State Wolfpack (12-6, 3-2) @ Florida State Seminoles (9-8, 1-3) | 1:30pm @ Tucker Civic Center | TV: ACC Regional (WRAL locally)

GoPack preview | FSU team page

Coming off of a narrow loss to the Cheats, the Pack travels to Tallahassee looking to capture their first road win of the season against the Florida Sate Seminoles. Florida State enters today’s contest at #148 in the RPI and have been around .500, record wise, all season. In ACC play, FSU won against Virginia Tech, but lost each of their road contests at Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh. Common opponents for the two teams include Charleston So. (W), USF (W), and Pitt (L).

In my opinion, this is a big game for the Pack – perhaps even the biggest so far this season. “Showing your stupidity again, eh wufpup?”. Well, maybe – but today’s game is one that needs to be won more often than not if a team like this season’s N.C. State squad wants to make the big dance in March. It is not a ‘must win’, but the Pack needs some road wins and to also take care of teams lower than them in both the RPI and conference standings. This also the type of game that the Pack has not historically fared well in – road game against a beatable opponent after an emotional game(s). The team has shown great character to this point in the season, and they’ll need to show it again today to get that needed first road victory.

Please share your thoughts, enjoy the game, and Go Pack

4-2 in the ACC. Neutral home/road. The guys had just enough left to close it out.

Rick, the sad thing is Bonner is better than most I’ve heard over the last few years…especially on the ACCN.

Bonner is too negative for me.

Hamilton flubbed up the end of that game. Should have fouled Anya. Lacey made them pay for it on the other end. How can we play so gritty against a good UNC team, yet play like crap against a bad FSU team?

In fairness, FSU really notched up the D and got physical. More troubling was that we got gassed and allowed way too much dribble penetration – IMO.

As a high school basketball coach, a win is a win, no matter how pretty or ugly it is. Thank God, tell them we’ve got work to do and get prepared for Miami.

I still couldn’t figure out how the team that was down the entire game, that asserted a full pressure defense and got much more physical, ended up 8 less fouls (and was fouling during the final minute) and 12 more FTA’s????

That last couple of minutes was well played and a good close to the game. Saw way too many of those go the other way in previous years. Hope they can take down Miami next and stretch to 5-2 in the ACC.

Pack 9 – Noles 1 since the last TV TO at 2:13…

While that’s not necessarily your first choice…

This game will WIN us one more game this year…
and you can’t say that if we had keep the double digit lead to the end…

    Team Building…
and they did it without one of their starters…
and on the road in a conference game …
    that’s ‘coming together’…

We played a poor second half but Turner and Lacey rescue us. It’s a W. We move on.

Crucial win for our psyche. Coming off a home loss and down an extra ball handler, wow.

I’m mixed on the way the refs called the game. In the one hand, free throws allow stoppage and Lacey gets to rest. On the other, a tighter whistle allows for a more entertaining (but tiring) game.

As for Miami, they are a Jekyll & Hydr team. No clue what to expect.

The twins were the weak link in our zone today. Most offensive rebounds that FSU got went their way when we were in the zone. With more pt, that should work itself out. I’m not knocking them, just pointing it out. Still, we wouldn’t have won this game without them.

    We are improving.
