Behind the scenes of College Gameday
Hopefully you got to see both hours of ESPN’s College Gameday today. If not, you missed quite an homage to the history of NC State basketball.
While ESPN made quite a few of factual errors that were disappointing — like David Thompson being one of the greatest dunkers in college basketball history (at a time when the dunk was outlawed) or how NC State HAD to win the 1983 ACC Tournament to qualify for the NCAA Tournament (despite the head of the selection committee stating that the Wolfpack had secured a berth with our Saturday win over UNC in Atlanta) — the bulk of the show was fantastic promotion for NC State.
We also had thread about Gameday linked here from our message forums.

It was dang good stuff!!!!
Awesome!
Digger Backs the Pack !
Cool vid.
And yep, the line about needing to win the ACC Tourney in ’83 is one of those things that has gotten erroneously repeated so much since then that it has just become accepted. Bugs me every time I hear it.
Missed the DT line though. That’s hilarious. Never let facts get in the way of good copy, Worldwide Leader.
I didn’t see the part about DT either but he WAS a great dunker. He just wasn’t allowed to do it in games.
