Pack beats #3 Noles 17-16
State trailed 16-0 at the half but dominated both sides of the ball in the second half and won in dramatic fashion 17-16 over the #3-ranked Seminoles, converting three fourth downs on the final drive before the game-winning touchdown with 0:16 left.
In the postgame, Tom O’Brien attributed much of the second half success to the electric Carter-Finley crowd. Despite what Andy Staples says, opposing coaches know that Carter-Finley is a tough place to play, and tonight was a perfect example of why.
In the exact same situation after beating Florida State in 2010, State now controls its own destiny in the Atlantic, and will go to College Park in two weeks after a much-needed bye week.

The crowd was awesome and loud, I lost my voice. How electrifying, and to pull it out with 16 seconds left, what more could you ask for? Congrats to the team and coaches, but now we have to keep it up so we can control our destiny and win a championship. And to think I heard so many negative comments about how badly we were gonna lose the game. Hope that crow taste good.

Witness to history at CF tonight! What a game to see live. Crowd was awesome. Such drama with all the 4th and over plays on the last drive. Unreal. The boys deserve it after last week and all the crap they read here and elsewhere. F Fla State and their national champ hopes. And F U John Swaf, you tar hole apologist and ass kisser.
Wow, what a game, just getting home. There was no quit in our boys tonight. Crowd was awesome. Coaches made really good halftime adjustments. Don’t ever tell me these guys can’t coach.The defense kept us in the game and deserve the game ball. Freakin HUGE victory!

Hopefully this will be the point at which the light goes on for this team. It seems to happen about halfway through each season.

The Seminoles must think we’re a jinx for them.
I will gladly eat a double helping of crow for my pre-game negativism after that fantastic finish in typical NC State “down to the wire” style.
All I ask is that we not let Maryland control our destiny like so many times before. Maybe not playing them the last game of the season will break that jinx. Go Pack!

Woke up today, still asking myself did it really happen. And it wasn’t a dream. But the team needs to learn from this, and build on it. Thankfully Bible got away from his predictable play calling, and realized if we were to win, we had to change something, and the no huddle offense was the answer. Thanks for thinking outside the box, DB. Now keep it up. And lest I forget, kudos to the defense who gave the offense the chance to win. They bent, but they didn’t break. Look forward to my trip to Maryland. Go Pack!
I don’t know if it was the team meeting or the crowd or what, but they were finally playing with emotion and some fire(especially the defense). Seems like that and better play calling, hurry up offense, and better execution from the offense in the second half were huge factors. Congrats to the team and lets see more of that!

I took my 9 YO GS to the game instead of my wife. He was jumping up and down and yelling like I have never seen him before. I have been going to State games since I came to Raleigh in 1963 at Rickety Riddick. I went to all the home games and moved away when I graduated in 1968. I moved back to NC in 1970 and have seen a lot of NCSU Football. I have had season tickets for probably 15 or so years. Last night, CF was the loudest that I have ever heard it and the atmosphere did not vaporize if we made a bad play. My wife watched the game on TV and said you could hear and feel it there. This game probably now hits number 1 on my list.
What was really emotional, for us in the stadium, was the usually emotionless TOB during the celebration and the Alma Mater. The camera put him on the jumbotron at the end of the Alma Mater and I thought he was going to cry.
I don’t know how much we paid to the team building course or how much we paid the guy to come in and talk to the team…..but it was probably NOT ENOUGH.
What an effort. What a show they put on for the fans…..and what a show the fans put on for them…
Really neat that the HOF folks were there…..sorry that Gabe could not make it.
Still can’t believe it. Watched it, slept on it and it still feels like a dream. Way to go guys. Way to go.

I will gladly eat my helping of crow. That must have been one hell of a come to Jesus meting at halftime. Effort and play calling on the O side of the ball was night and day 1st half to the second. During the 1st half , as in the Tenn. and Mia. games, we looked unprepared and overwhelmed. Happy to see that the team (coaches and players) took the opportunity to adjust. Go Pack!
Got home late with almost no voice and having to eat crow……..but we beat a good FSU team on national TV with an awesome home crowd.

And the craziest thing was, it was a team victory. There wasn’t one freaky performance that we’ll never see again. It took a complete performance by offense, defense, coaches and special teams to win this one. And the crowd was awesome!

Poppa john- agree with your statement on second half, but don’t overlook our d holding Fsu to field goals vs. Tds in first half…that kept us in it.
I deserve crow more than anyone. I bad mouthed my school all week. Even gave up my tickets to stay at home. So with that being said I deserve possum or pig slop. With that being said……. Unbelievable coaching job done last nite. I don’t know if you guys noticed but we actually blitzed quite often on 2nd and 3rd down, applying the pressure and making the quarterback to make a quick decision instead of sit in the pocket for 6 seconds. We nickeled and dimed them to death in the 2nd half which is the way you beat speed. Glennon knew exactly who he was going to throw too and threw the ball at the exact moment the receivers broke into the route, for that is the only way any of our receivers would have seperation before the gap was closed . Outstanding job. The screen route for our last TD was beautiful. The inside receiver ran both DB’s deep into the end zone which allowed Underwood to come underneath unscathed. The best play call I have seen from Bible. Ever. Shadrach has been thrown into the fire, not only in the Bible but also on the field, and has done a hell of a job.
Didn’t see the first half, but in spite of the hole we dug isn’t there something to be said for only giving up 1 TD?

It was strategy. Miss that long FG and we get a short field. We didn’t have many long sustained drives to that point. They probably figured if we’re pinned inside the 10 yard line, they have a great chance of winning.
Hindsight is ALWAYS 20-20. That FG was not a given for them.
Yeap, my crow was a little done but my apologies to the Team and coaches for saying you lacked the passion. It showed up Saturday night and Glennon was a proven leader and commander down the stretch. Great job gentlemen! Being a N.C. native but living in FL now, I have never enjoyed going to work on a Monday morning more as I did yesterday. Continued success Wolfpack!!
