2 is 2nite’s magic number (Friday Update)

Updated Friday, August 27 @ 2:50pm: Reports from UNC’s afternoon practice indicated that both Kendric Burney and Charles Brown were in attendance. Both were moved to the scout team along with a host of other former defensive starters.

Please recognize that our authors have been hard at work and there is a lot of fresh content below this on the blog. Enjoy!

CBS Sports is reporting that a source has indicated that two University of North Carolina football players have been kicked out of the program – and neither are named Marvin Austin or Greg Little.Link to article

A source has also told CBSSports.com that two players, cornerbacks Charles Brown and Kendrick Burney, have already been kicked off of the football team.

At this time, we cannot confirm whether or not those dismissals will be announced during Thursday night’s press conference.

Additionally, the same source told CBSSports.com that “four players have been cleared and the rest are toast” — meaning four of the defensive starters on Carolina’s team.

Erin Summers of WRAL in Raleigh also reported that “it’s all but four players on the starting defense who are involved in the academic infractions.”

The information from our source falls right in line with the — as yet unconfirmed — reports that the majority of the defensive starters were removed from the first team reps during Carolina’s closed practice, and that Chancellor Holden Thorp addressed the football team on the field earlier.

From the vault titled, “What are the odds of that happening?” –It was affirmed tonight that the NCAA is investigating a UNC tutor that was also employed personally by Butch Davis.   This makes two different individuals hired by Butch Davis confirmed to be the targets of two different NCAA investigations (within the last month) – (1) John Blake and (2) this mysterious woman.

I mean…really…what are the odds?

The writers in the media won’t be able connect these dots for you.  But, do you really need them to?

Post-Script:

In honor of the end of Charles Brown’s career, we thought we would highlight the last thing that Brown ever experienced and did on the football field in the regular season – (1) a third consecutive loss to NC State and (2) showing his punk ass after the game.

Watch the last :23 seconds of the first video.  You will see Russell Wilson take a knee on the last play of the NC State game.  Keep your eye on him and watch a UNC player make his way into Wilson’s face.  That classy individual is…Charles Brown.  For the record…Brown is a cornerback.  That means, that he had to trek almost 50 yards on a kneel-down to find Wilson and start talking smack to him…as time expired on a LOSS!?!?  Wilson wisely and characteristically turns away; but, you can see the fruits of Brown’s behavior in the second video below.

Going to miss you Charles.  A fourth consecutive ass whipping for someone like you is very much deserved.

I am out of pocket for one day playing 36 holes and all this breaks. This is hysterical and incredible. If I did that everyday for a week, I bet UNC football would have the death penalty.

Ruffles… you may have missed one of the greater days in the history of the internet. I’m sorry.

Well, well, well. What a tangled web we see in CH. I guess if you lay down with the dogs…
What a ‘young’ team Butchy will run out on the field to face LSU.

The writers in the media won’t be able connect these dots for you.

They can if you give them both dots and a ruler:

How can UNC chancellor Holden Thorp retain “every confidence” in Davis when a tutor who once worked for Davis’ family is now a focus of an investigation into possible academic improprieties within his football program?

One NCAA investigation includes Davis’ associate head coach and close friend John Blake. The other includes his son’s former academic coach. It’s a mind-boggling set of circumstances, with Davis at the center of it all.

Did Brown not play in the UNC loss to Pittsburgh?

Hopefully this CBS story is confirmed soon along with at least 5 more similar stories.

I loved watching that clip of the UNC game.

One thing I noticed, every time Yates threw a touchdown he would raise his arms as if to say “yes, I am awesome, look at me.” Wilson would jump around with unselfconscious, childish glee.

I know the cocky swagger is pretty standard for quarterbacks, but this is one of the little reasons I love watching Wilson play. I’ll stretch it a bit and say I think Wilson plays more for himself, and that’s part why he’s able to maintain his good judgment.

Does Anyone Else Find It As Funny As I Do That This Guys Name is CHARLES BROWN and He Played Football? If Only He Were a Kicker…

If you follow sports much, when the people that do the hiring and firing start having to make comments like “we have the utmost confidence in so and so” it’s not long before that person is terminated!!! I don’t think they would fire Butchy. I do expect him to resign.

I’m a bit surprised there have been no decommits yet.

…if you give ‘presents’ then you have to give more presents so they’ll keep their mouths shut!

No one wants to get banned from the NC2A.

    Lets see…

    BD hires said tutor to “tutor” his teenage son;
    Said tutor writes papers for players in exchange for sex;
Did BD hire the tutor for the football players?

BD is sounding more like a pimp than a football coach. After a little deeper investigation I won’t be surprised to find out that the same tutor worked directly on BD’s “staff”.

Where did this “in exchange for sex” thing come from?

  18. triadwolf 08/27/2010 at 5:24 PM #

I don’t remember which one’s, but I saw at least two media reports earlier today stating that Brown & Burney were kicked off the team for having the tutor write papers for them in exchange for sex. I haven’t seen anything else since then so I don’t if there’s anything to it. Also, I think there are reports this afternoon that both players were at practice today. Stuff was flying out so fast today I’m sure there were more than a few inaccurate reports.

  19. highstick 08/27/2010 at 5:53 PM #

JEOH2…just think if the tutor’s name was Lucy!

  20. Pack78 08/27/2010 at 9:03 PM #

97-i heard the sex for papers angle from a well-connected CH source-I expect that this will be confirmed soon if it hasn’t already-question:
can the tutor be very hot if she(?) has to do their school work in exchange for some action?
