Forsyth Country Day guard gets offer from Wolfpack
According to the Charlotte Observer NC State has made an offer to 2012 guard prospect Tyler Lewis. A star for Forsyth Country Day School as a sophomore, Lewis has picked up offers from several schools in the area in the last few weeks. At 5’10″ 160 lbs. his height and weight are somewhat of a question, but from all accounts this kid is a player in the making.
N.C. State, Miami offer all-state basketball stay Tyler Lewis
Forsyth Country Day basketball star Tyler Lewis, who lives in the Observer’s coverage area in Statesville, got scholarship offer from N.C. State and Miami Friday.
Lewis, a 5-foot-10 point guard, has offers from Miami, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Charlotte, Auburn, Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth.
I got a chance to see Lewis play twice at GSK holiday tournament and from what I could tell this kid is the real deal. I don’t quite understand how he did some of the things I saw, but he got it done. Much like Ryan Harrow, Lewis is a crowd pleaser. His defensive abilities and height (if he doesn’t grow anymore) will be a liability at the ACC level, but if he gets a bit taller and stronger he can play at that level.
Virginia Tech has been on the Lewis bandwagon for a while now and it appears other ACC schools have started getting into the mix. With two seasons left for FCD, Lewis’ recruitment could get very interesting if he grows a couple of inches.

I’ve seen the kid play and he’s going to be a very good college player. There’s no secret about this guy. He’ll have plenty of options.
This guy must be good to get an offer as a sophomore.
It seems Sid’s approach is to get ‘em young and keep recruiting them the whole time. It worked with Ryan Harrow and one day we’ll see if it works with this kid.
I saw Tyler play at the Carolina Challenge – he performed well. I think he had 13 assists in one of the games. Seems like he would be a quality four year player with the potential to have a very solid career individually. He has marvelous handles and court vision, and makes up for any lack of athleticism by using his angles well.
To me, he seemed to be the type of guy that makes his teammates better.
He’s a feisty player too… he’s going to get technicals for whoever he plays for. Not (slow voice) necessarily, a bad thing. I have only seen him twice and its obvious he’s a hard worker/defender/highly skilled player.
Due to his size I’m not worried about him fighting anyone or pulling a Griner-Shiner, but he seemed to show his frustrations with calls by taking plays off or retribution, more so in the West Charlotte game. Craig Dawson had to bench him for a minute or two a couple of times.
Remember that he’s just a sophomore, too, folks – he’s got a couple of years’ worth of maturing ahead of him, both emotionally AND physically. Give him a chance…
I saw him play and the kid can flat out ball.
He has a basketball sense that cannot be taught.
I like his game.
If he grows at least 2 more inches…then he will get many more offers from “BCS” Schools. It’s good that we have offered him early (as that seems to be the trend)…if he continues to improve, we’ll have the inside track on him…and if not we can always go elsewhere…

This is crazy! Everybody knows you have to be 6’0 to play in the mighty ACC.
