“We need to be competitive as any university in the country in recruiting the best academic talent in the country, and our AD is a incompetent troglodyte,” he said.

Why is it that as I get older, I care about sports more? I just want to be relevant. That means 8-4 in football consistently while occasionally competing for an ACC title. In basketball, I want an NCAA bid yearly. NIT bids are acceptable on rare occasions, but every 10-15 years or so, I expect to have a roster that competes for a National Title.

Is this really too much to ask?

^ Of course it is. What the hell’s the matter with you?

The guys sounds a bit like MAF along those lines… and she, of course, is my hero.

Amen packfan03, I dont think it’s too much to ask from our Athletic teams. As of right now, we have zero expectations that we can win a national title in any of our major sports, I think that’s a major problem, and a culture that has been allowed to take root here in Raleigh. We have an AD that talks crap about the fans that fill the seats, and that join the WPC, and buy the LTR’s, I mean there’s something wrong with that picture. Fowler pretty much made the Lowe rumors more about him, and gave all us State fans the middle finger in a matter of speaking. I just want to be competitive and relevant, I dont think that is too much to ask for. I mean Butler made the Final Four, Non-BCS schools are making it to BCS Bowl games every year.

Woodson may end up being the best thing to happen to the AD in years. I have always felt that accountability has to start at the top and Fowler was never held accountable for his antics. I think I hear change on the horizon……..

packfan03 – ditto, the NIT appearance would be considered a ‘down year’ but that happens – and I would add to that, we want to be nationally relevant in football every few years as well. I guess you may mean that by ‘competing for the ACC title’, and if so I agree.

But that said, it should apply to all of our sports. We should maintain a very high annual standard of performance, upper echelon, and frequently competing for the ACC title, less frequently winning it, and occaissionally the national title. That would keep me happy and willing to contribute.

And by the way Chancellor, with all due respect, the clock is ticking. The words sound good, but we’ve had nothing but words for 20+ years.

“My sense is to work hard and to be world-class and to remind people of who you are,”

Lee’s probably thinking he should schedule a press conference to showcase our world class Fucilities pronto. We have nothing else to talk about in athletics.
