Thirteen days until football season kicks off, and things are getting very real over at practice for the Pack’s players. Here are some interesting links for you to peruse in the meantime, and if you’ve seen anything Pack-related that you would like to share with the community, please feel free to put it in the comments;
This is a rather large PDF file, and I would strongly advise you to save it to your local computer and then read it locally. If you prefer, you can buy a printed copy for $20 at Meet the Pack Day.
Speaking of, Meet the Pack Day is August 29th. It will be your best chance to get autographs from your favorite players and to offer your best wishes for the season. This is always a fun event, and is free.
Personally, I prefer to get photographs I have taken autographed by my favorite players, and then I frame them and hang them on my office wall. I’ve got Philip Rivers, Mario Williams and Andre Brown up there currently, and will hopefully add Russel Wilson this year. Anyway, a superb source of autograph-able photo prints is available from Gene Galin, whose work you have undoubtedly seen through the years. Persue his galleries, select a print and purchase it for an extremely reasonable price. Meanwhile, if you want to relive the 2008 season, you can do so at Gene’s ACC Football Photos website.
Next, Dave Glenn of 850 The Buzz interviewed Tom O’Brien yesterday, and if you missed it, you can listen to it here. Me, I like hearing from our coach and always enjoy the way he handles himself. It’s a great thing to have a coach we can believe in on our sidelines, isn’t it?
Steve Spurrier told the Savannah Morning News yesterday that the “Gamecocks are the rise.” We’ll see about that in thirteen days when we all convene at Carter-Finley Stadium. I don’t know what you have planned to cook at your tailgate, but this is on our menu: Beer Can Chicken, also known as Beer Butt Chicken. Don’t know about you, but the words “butt” and “chicken” make me think of the Ole Ball Coach, and I for one will be extremely happy if we sit in the parking lot post-game enjoying some crispy leftovers and savoring the first Pack win of the year.
Enjoy your weekend, fellows. I’ll be working on the honey-do list so I can watch football in peace this fall.
