State -9.5 over Wake Forest

As NC State prepares to head into our House of Horrors in Winston-Salem on Saturday, the Las Vegas oddsmakers have made the Wolfpack 9.5 point favorites and set the over/under at 46 points – NC State has scored just 26 total points in two ACC games as Wake Forest has scored just 40 points in four ACC games. The Wolfpack have fared well against the Las Vegas line as of late – going 6-1 against the spread over the last 7 games.

NC State hasn’t won in Winston-Salem since 2001, losing six straight games in Forsyth County; but, the Pack still holds a 21-16-1 overall record at Wake Forest and leads the overall series 64-38-6. Dave Doeren’s first squad was favored by 6.5 points in 2013 but ultimately lost to Wake, 28-13. The home team has won each of the last eight years, with Wake Forest’s 2006 win at Carter-Finley the most recent victory by a visiting team. (*shakes head in disgust*)

As a reminder, Saturday’s game will be televised on regional sports networks and ESPN3.

Advice…Should I or Shouldn’t I: Set up my NC State tent, NC State flag and pole right in the middle of the gold and blue parking lot or just lay low deflecting as much attention as possible around 3:45pm?

I don’t believe in curses, jinxes, or even bad luck. The current team doesn’t care and isn’t bothered by what has gone on in the past. They are healthy, prepared, and a superior team. I will be there to proudly watch them thump the Deacons.

At what point does the “NC State hasn’t won in Winston-Salem since 2001” talk impact the team?

Not a hit on SFN, heck every forum post / blog / fan says it every other year.

But does the team hear it so much that it seeps into their subconscious? When we have a bad break tomorrow, will the team just shrug and say, “oh well, that’s what happens in W-S?”

Of course I want to beat UNC-Cheat more than any other team, but after that game, I want this one more than all the others.

It doesn’t. This ain’t baseball and these are college aged football players. That x2 for the kids from the last two classes.

At least half those losses in WS were because the players, and sometimes coaches, were looking past WF. One I put solely on Noel Mazzone, who Philip almost bailed out after giving his new OC a figurative “FU” after Wake jumped out to a 25 point lead.

It will have no impact whatsoever.

    Let’s not go overboard now.

I take it that redisgood isn’t reporting on the state of our team but is speaking something into existence — a declaration like “I know pronounce you man and wife.” Before the preacher declared them man and wife, they weren’t.

Now do I know that’s what redisgood was doing? Nope, but I like my interpretation. So let the team that shows up in Winston Salem Saturday be “healthy, prepared, and a superior team.”

    Can I get an “Amen?”

I see you’re not keeping up with PC etiquette. You just offended several ‘communities’.

Not only did I offend several ‘communities’, I likely got the spelling police on my arse. 😉

“I know now pronounce you man and wife top and bottom.”

For some reason I don’t think this is better. 🙁
