The Rest Of The ACC Should Be Mad (Until I Start Handing Out Titles)

Here’s a few reasons why the rest of the ACC should be upset about the news out of Chapel Hill.

114 of them to be exact. Because that’s how many ACC titles Carolina won from the 92-93 season until the most recent 13-14 season. And as far as I’m concerned they’re all tainted. Those titles are all “ungood and distrue”.

And why should the rest of the ACC get mad? Because UNC won 21.2% of all the ACC titles in that timespan. 31 more total titles than the 2nd place team. The playing field wasn’t level and it was tilted in UNC’s favor.

If you were a student athlete at an ACC school (or anybody else UNC played), maybe you wished you had some extra time in the weight room, the batting cage or the gym but you were researching papers or pulling an allnighter for a class project. Meanwhile your counterpart wearing that ugly light blue wasn’t even going to class and turning in plagiarized papers. Seems fair, right?

Of course not every player in every sport at UNC was cheating. But sorry, for the point of this article you’re all guilty by association.

So by the power invested in me by absolutely no one (kinda like the Helms Foundation), I am declaring the runner-up the new ACC champion. Like Oprah does with cars, I’m handing out ACC titles (you get a title and you get a title)

Especially in the sports that you can tell from the e-mails were in on the scam.

So congrats Clemson, you now have your first ACC men’s basketball championship. Virginia you get one too and I’ll throw another Duke’s way (not that they need it). And 2 of them are going to the rafters of the PNC Arena and now belong to NC State (and years of message board arguments are forever changed now that both Sidney Lowe and Herb Sendek have an ACC title). And while we’re at it, take down that national championship banner that wasn’t won on the court and awarded by a bakery, it is dumb.

Moving on to women’s basketball, hey Clemson you benefit again. I’m awarding you 2 titles giving you a 4-peat from 1996 to 1999. Duke gets 3 more and Maryland and Virginia each get one as well. And one will go in the rafters of Reynolds Coliseum giving the late, great Kay Yow her 5th title.

Make room at the baseball stadium in Blacksburg because Virginia Tech has their first ACC baseball banner to hang. And Wake Forest gets one too.

Football, UNC has to return those stupid and now double fraudulent Coastal Division title rings.

Women’s soccer, Florida State gets 4 titles, Virginia Tech gets 1, Virginia gets 2, Clemson gets 3, Duke gets 4, Wake Forest gets 1 and Maryland gets 2. Competitive parity instead of domination by cheaters.

There will also be new homes for the following:
• 3 women’s cross country titles
• 9 field hockey titles
• 2 men’s golf titles and a 3rd that Georgia Tech no longer has to share
• 1 women’s golf title
• 4 men’s lacrosse titles
• 1 women’s lacrosse title
• 2 men’s soccer titles
• 1 softball title
• 6 men’s swimming titles
• 8 women’s swimming titles
• 1 men’s tennis title
• 2 women’s tennis titles
• 2 men’s indoor track titles
• 11 women’s indoor track titles
• 3 men’s outdoor track titles
• 10 women’s outdoor track titles
• 3 volleyball titles and 2 more that Duke and Maryland no longer have to share
• 10 wrestling titles
• And even though they’re not ACC titles, I’m going to need those 5 gymnastics titles too.

But wait, there’s more. I’m going to distribute the following as well:
• 3 national championships in basketball (Illinois you get one, Tom Izzo and the Spartans get one and Michigan gets one but thanks to Chris Webber I’m not sure they’re allowed to accept it)
• 1 women’s basketball national title that will be going to Louisiana Tech
• 12 women’s soccer titles, 2 go to UConn, 1 each to Penn St, Stanford, UCLA, George Mason and Duke, and 5 will go to Notre Dame
• 5 field hockey titles
• 1 women’s lacrosse title
• 2 men’s soccer titles

UConn should have a bone to pick too. They report their grades truthfully and don’t get to participate in the NCAA tourney because of their APR score. Carolina just inflates theirs with fake classes and changed grades, no problem with their APR score. Seems fair, right UConn?

So that should give the rest of the ACC (and the country) a look at the scope and the magnitude of what cheating got UNC and what could have been yours. 114 ACC titles and 24 national titles. Every single one of them tainted. And I want to give them good homes.

By the way, do you know how many ACC titles UNC won in 13-14 after they (allegedly) cleaned up their act? Zero.

Whooo Hoooo! Two more ACC Basketball Championships! That makes us second in the ACC in number of titles. I am so excited I feel like Jim Valvano running around with no one to hug right now! Sidney Lowe champion player and coach, just brings tears to your eyes!

How about all the coaches returing every dime of bonus comp triggered by “hitting” their contractual trigger points???? Does anybody know, for example, what Roy received in preformance bonuses in 2005????

In an AP article from 2007 discussing his extension at that time…”The new contract will pay the Asheville native an annual base salary of $325,000, a $30,000 expense account and supplemental income paid by the university ranging from $1.2 million to $1.5 million. Bonuses are included for qualifying for and advancing in the NCAA tournament and for graduation rates that meet or exceed the general student body”. Fully article is here….

FRAUD! So much f’ing fraud on so many fronts. Most all the revenue coaches had deals like this. I suppose this does not involve taxpayer dollars….or does it?

Either way, WalMart UNCheaters and those with the dial-a-diploma, ink on paper, complete bull crap “GRADUATES” are all on the same level! Ha ha ha. fhoockers!

In the unlikely event of UNC being stripped of any ACC titles, they’ll simply be vacated.

The PNC ceiling rafters will remain as is.

The more things change, the more they more they remain the same.

This really is a big deal. I don’t know how you get this to the AD’s and Presidents of the other universities but it is a priority.
The other thing this will do is make Carolina irrelevant over the last two decade if they have NO titles to show for their cheating efforts.

Can we throw Clemson a couple of wins over in Chapel Hill too…or just let them suffer through that streak on their own?

Just read this on Charlotte Observer’s site. Excerpt re: Bubba Cunningham’s response to Wainstein report. This is about as bad as The Hat’s admission that he doesn’t know his players’ majors.

A few days earlier, before Emmert’s interview with the AP, Cunningham said during his radio interview that while the paper class scheme was “bad,” it shouldn’t have tainted a student’s overall academic experience.

“If I go to any college in the country, and nine of my 120 hours were bad, that shouldn’t ruin my entire experience at the university,” he said. “I got shortchanged, maybe, but that doesn’t minimize the issue. The issue is bad, I get that. But the whole place isn’t going to fall down because of what occurred.”

Not to mention, guys like Elliott Avent likely deserve a big pat on the back and perhaps an apology from us fans. We’ve readily compared him to now known cheater Mike Fox. Avent’s one trip to the CWS is more than Fox’s 6 vacated to zero. Avent has been a coach at State for 16 years and not once has he coached a season when he wasn’t up against Fox and unprecedented cheating at UNC.

Here are the tainted accomplishments of our most direct competition for recruits, exposure and all around advancement on the diamond:

    University of North Carolina
Mike Fox was hired as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels baseball team on May 7, 1998, becoming the 24th head baseball coach in the history of the school, and only its third coach since 1947. Through 2007, Carolina has made eight appearances in the NCAA Tournament and posted a 398-176-1 record in Fox’s nine seasons in Chapel Hill. He has led his team to back-to-back 2nd place finishes at the College World Series in 2006 and 2007.

In 2008, Fox again led his team to the College World Series, where they placed 3rd.

In 2008, Fox was named the National Baseball Coach of the year.

Given UNC knocked us out of the 2013 CWS and given the God-awful call on Trea Turner at home plate, Avent has done a pretty extraordinary job of incalculable measure competing against a national cheating powerhouse down the street.

This may be the best article ever written on Statefans Nation. And that says a great deal: there are 6,121 posts on this site, dating back to November 26, 2004, and in my opinion, this is the best of the best.

(BTW, this site turns ten in less than a month!!!)

This is just part of the athletic side of things, and doesn’t begin to touch the recruiting/academic/economic advantages they hold and gained over other schools (ours!).
Let’s touch on other topics that have been impacted over a lengthy period of time (time of official cheating)- increased alumni giving for academics/facilities, increased revenues all over including athletics, increased national exposure, improved college ranking, better/more students applying. These are just some of the things affected by what has been happening in that cess pool for decades.
I wish I could relive some of the conversations I had with UNC-CHeat fans over the last 20 years when they still considered themselves “holier-than-thou”. Many still do.
I hope UNC-CHeat gets freaking hammered.

Why wait for UNC to take down the 1997 and 2007 banners? Let’s go ahead and hang ours.

Either the NCAA will do the right thing and vacate UNC’s wins and titles or they won’t. If the NCAA does not do the right thing, they are reprobate. What do the titles mean then? If you can defraud your way to a title, what’s it worth once the fraud is exposed?
