KENTAVIOUS STREET COMMITS TO PACK!

The RED LIGHT IS ON!!

#Pack14

#1Pack1Goal

In a solid recruiting class full of 3-star commitments, Kentavious Street joins quarterback Jalan McClendon as the Wolfpack’s 4-star recruits (Scout.com) for 2014. At 6 feet 3 inches and 265 pounds, Street easily ranks as one of the country’s top 20 defensive ends. He has played his high school football at Greenville’s JH Rose High School, which also was home to former NC State running back and current New York Giant, Andre Brown.

Street’s commitment is not only huge for 2014 NC State football recruiting, but it also symbolizes a big step for NC State’s recruiting prowess in the important state of North Carolina – particularly Eastern North Carolina where another 4-star stud also resides, Derell Scott of Havelock.

Hopefully we are seeing a trend here. It appears that DD has been able to “explain” the 2013 season, and potentially leverage it as a opportunity for playing time.

Nothing like PT and TV to get a recruit excited (that and the all-black uni’s).

Unfortunately Brock Ruble committed to FSU today. Hopefully we stand a chance at stealing Derrell Scott away from USC.

The silver lining to having a wretched season? The coaches have plenty of playing time to sell. And a good recruiter/salesman can make that work.

It would be quite different for an established coach to “explain” such results. Be thankful DY acted when she did. She was brave, and 100% correct.

One thing that has always hurt is how many kids leave the state to play in the SEC/FSU/OSU/ND

This year, 4 of the top 7 are staying home (2 for each of NCSU/UNC) and the # 3 and 8 (Rivals.com) are undecided. If we can build several years of at least 3 top-10 kids coming here (and admittedly the same for UNC), football in the state will be much stronger.

Rivals.com has him as a 5* recruit. Welcome to the PACK.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that he was getting offers from LSU, FSU and Ol’ Miss among others. This is a great job by the staff to get such a highly rated in state player. Welcome young man!

I have no idea what kind of kid he is, but playing armchair psychologist, his twitter post is encouraging:

He refers to us as NC State UNIVERSITY. He could’ve just said “NC State” or “The Wolfpack” as we are known in the sports world . It may indicate he actually is proud to be going to college or at least considers that part of it to be important. Also, stringing together a properly structured sentence has been difficult for some elite athletes as their focus has not been on school. He obviously knows how to. He didn’t use an apostrophe, but kids seldom do now.

P.s. I realize analyzing a twitter post is crazy, but you’d be surprised how revealing small things are.

Welcome to the Pack family Kentavious!!!! You selected the best University in N.C. and hopefully, a pretty good football team in a couple of years. Glad to have you in the family.

This really speaks well of the Job DD is doing at getting home grown recruits. If you can’t get the top recruits at home, I don’t know where you can expect to get them. DD has made recruiting a priority and it is a breath of fresh air. This season was simply a disaster on the field, but this year would’ve been a tough year even at best. I really believe DD will be one of the better coaches we have had a State, he just needs his players and his personnel to match his style of play.
