======> Five Questions for tonight’s game linked here.

3. If the Wolfpack wins, should its fans storm the court?

Postgame court rushes have become all the rage in the ACC this winter. They’ve happened four times over the past two weeks, with three of the celebrations coming after games involving N.C. State. They sure are a lot of fun for the students involved and the television cameras love them, but are the postgame stampedes really necessary? Senior forward Scott Wood doesn’t think so. “I’m going to be honest. I don’t think they should have stormed the court after Duke,” he said. “A win’s a win. You just need to let us shake hands and go on to the next game.” That might be the logical thing to do, but given that the Wolfpack has lost 13 straight to rival UNC and the fact that ESPN will be on hand to document the festivities, another court storming would seem inevitable if the Wolfpack takes care of business tonight. Hopefully, the mob will be a little more mindful of Will Privette and his wheelchair this time.

======> The rest of ACC action this weekend is listed below:

Saturday’s games
Maryland at Duke, 1 p.m. on CBS
Boston College at Virginia, 1 p.m. on FS Carolinas
Wake Forest at Georgia Tech, 3 p.m. on WRAL
North Carolina at N.C. State, 7 p.m. on ESPN

Sunday’s games
Virginia Tech at Clemson, 1 p.m. on WRAL.2
Florida State at Miami, 6 p.m. on ESPNU

….more to come…

Now that right there is a funny sign. I hope to see some good ones at the game tonight if the cameras show them.

  2. highstick 01/26/2013 at 11:50 AM #

Love the sign…I also have a hard time imagining TOB playing guitar!

  3. tractor57 01/26/2013 at 11:54 AM #

On the rush the court thing. In my day the court was like the inner temple and you did not walk on it or dare to throw anything toward it. Old school for certain and being just after 1974 sort of understood. Later the rage was throwing empty plastic cups at the end of the game – never really understood that one.

Being well beyond college age I will not wag a disapproving finger at rushing the court but hope one day to be back in the mode of “act like you’ve been there” because you have.

  4. StateFans 01/26/2013 at 12:05 PM #

The PNC staff confiscated lots of signs as fans were entering the arena. They then took a bunch of signs that were in the crowd. It totally SUCKS.

  5. tractor57 01/26/2013 at 12:11 PM #

Sucks unless you are the one sitting behind the sign …

  6. graywolf 01/26/2013 at 12:25 PM #

There is but one chant tonight. Every time carolina has the ball it has to be non-stop “CHEATERS” …….over and over and over.

  7. Dogbreath 01/26/2013 at 12:59 PM #

    “Noooo class. No! Show! Class!”

    “Noooo class. No! Show! Class!”

    “Noooo class. No! Show! Class!”

    “Noooo class. No! Show! Class!”

Nice double entendre. Over and over again.

  8. Tuffy2 01/26/2013 at 1:04 PM #

Don’t rush the court tonight if we win and this is why:

    1) unc is not ranked

    2) We are the ranked team

    3) Show the nation that the prior 13 straight losses to them is insignificant from this point on.

    4) And the biggest reason would be to remember what happened after the Duke game. The letdown or whatever you want to call it.

The team needs to understand that every game is just as important and maybe us fans can show them that by not storming the court.

Great article this morning in the Charlotte Observer and I assume the News and Observer as well. By Caulton Tudor.

About the State/Carolina game when it was THE rivalry game. Many here are too young to remember the days of relevence, ACC and National Championships, and I feel sorry for you.

We have been mired in 20 years of crap, and the mindset became “we can’t compete with the big boys”. Well we certainly can!! In those days Duke was little more than a scrimmage, but they didn’t run and hide, they went out, got a coach, went to work and the rest is history.

We are almost two years into our rebirth, we hired a good coach, we are building talent, and we will win. A National Championship? Who knows, it could happen sooner than later. We are headed in the right direction in spite of the letdowns of the last couple of weeks. Go get ‘em Pack!!

ESPN Gameday isn’t here because we are nobody’s, there her because we are back on track. Enjoy it all folks.

I remember attending one game against UNX when it was deafening an hour before tip. Same time period as you speak of.

I hate the “act like you’ve been there” argument against rushing the court. What they are saying is there is only a certain quality of win that deserves rushing the court. I assume that would mean either an ACCT or NCAAT championship win. Well guess what? Most of us won’t make it to those games – so we miss out? And do they allow that at those games anymore?

We’re talking about SPORTS! The reason we participate in and watch sports is to CELEBRATE THE VICTORIES!!! (and insult our friends and co-workers from UNC) That is why sports are fun.
If some people want to rush the court (safetly – watch out for Will!), dress crazy, mug for the cameras, make posters, have a bonfire, block Hillsborough street, or whatever – I say enjoy yourselves. It is well earned.
It doesn’t mean we won’t have more and/or better wins, it doesn’t mean anything at all except WE HAD FUN!!!

Relax and have fun people. We have moaned for 20+ years about not having a team and a coach as good as Carolina. Well, I think we are there, win or lose. And it is GREAT! Enjoy it while it lasts.

No to storming the court…I hope they don’t.

Every time they say McAdoo’s entire name after introduction of starting lineups is going to piss me off.

  13. PackerInRussia 01/26/2013 at 1:36 PM #

Agree about not rushing the court in the event of a win. However, I am betting that, if they win, there will be a court rush. Maybe I’ll be surprised. Of course, I hope that’s the only thing I have to complain about after this game.

  14. eas 01/26/2013 at 1:53 PM #

I was excited at first because of ESPN game day…..then I woke up. They prolly just came for the Holes.

  15. vtpackfan 01/26/2013 at 2:04 PM #

TV Teddy in Cameron today so I’ve already got a better feeling about tonight (not to mention Calvin’s arch nemesis will not be in PNC).

  16. vtpackfan 01/26/2013 at 2:08 PM #

Wow- I know this is a rivalry game/Espn game day entry, but every body with “elite” status are dropping conference games. Zona before and the ‘Ville and ‘Cuse already today.

  17. john of sparta 01/26/2013 at 2:13 PM #

    the PNC/RBC/XYZ patrols won’t
    allow signage that blocks vision,
    press cameras, electronic signage,
    obscures paid advertisement,
    promotes UNpaid ads (Walmart),
is deemed inappropriate, or is of
    sufficient size/weight to pose a
    danger if dropped or thrown.

    “TV Teddy in Cameron today”

I wonder if Clougherty has the sack to send in the clowns…Karl Hess.

    PoppaJohn-

“We’re talking about SPORTS! The reason we participate in and watch sports is to CELEBRATE THE VICTORIES!!! (and insult our friends and co-workers from UNC) That is why sports are fun”.

I agree but I am willing to bet once the Wolfpack becomes that perennial top 25 to top 10 team like years ago you will insult your friends and co-workers from UNC as I do and celebrate, but you will not rush the court. You can deny it if you like but that kind of yearly success which has not been seen here in some time will make storming the court look one-sided if we are doing it to them but them not to us.

Do you see Duke and UNC fans rushing the court when they beat each other?

  20. RINGwolf 01/26/2013 at 2:52 PM #

Just got a ticket, looking fwd to the show.

  21. JSRy2k 01/26/2013 at 3:02 PM #

    We will win tonight.
Superstition, jinxes, hexes, curses, etc. be damned!

My take is as I posted earlier. Back in the day it wasn’t a thing. I will not castigate ones who think different but I come from a different background.

I don’t like the BS crap after NFL players score either but I hate the no fun league rules against most of that.

Yes I am an old fart and I will now be an old fart until I die.
