UNC-G Bball Game Start Time Changed (12/31/12)

In yet another example of how the current administration of NC State “gets it”, the start time of the UNC-Greensboro basketball game for New Years’ Eve in the PNC Arena has been moved from 1pm to 5 pm.

NC State-UNC Greensboro Game Time Changed To 5 p.m. (GoPack.com)

The time change was made to allow Wolfpack fans locally and across the nation to support the football team as it takes on Vanderbilt in the Franlkin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, followed by the basketball contest later that afternoon. Both events will be broadcast on the NC State Radio network. The Wolfpack football game is set to air on ESPN at noon and the men’s basketball contest will be televised by ESPNU.

So…New Year’s Eve Wolfpack Doubleheader now looks as follows…

  • Music City Bowl – Noon (ESPN)
  • UNC-G Bball – 5pm (ESPNU)

This potential conflict (and many other items of “great importance”) was discussed on the SFN Forums recently by the way.  There’s always something worth discussing over there, so you really should make it your New Year’s resolution to get over there already.

Had the NHL not cancelled games today through 1/14, we’d be playing at the original time. But, yes, they “get it”…

GREAT news! Watch the football game at home, go to the basketball game, and then celebrate New Year’s Eve after the game.

Evidently, the uncertainty of the hockey game later that day held up this decision, one I doubt Jed could’ve made had he had a year to mull it over.

Can anyone tell me why I can’t find the new 2012-13 basketball jersey anywhere to buy? I was hoping with this new adidas contract STATE fans could benefit like for example Michigan fans and have plenty of adidas gear to choose from.

I seem to recall them shifting the time of a basketball game a few years ago so it didn’t overlap the bowl game. Even the AD Who Shall Not Be Named did that before Yow arrived.

flippinPack, what would you suggest the band do instead? Fly? Spend another night in a hotel down there? Both of those options would cost several thousand dollars. I would expect them to come home after the game.

Sounds like “getting it”, like many things, is in the eye of the beholder who is being begotten….or something like that.

Can’t say I’d necessarily much be looking forward to a bus ride home on New Year’s Eve myself actually. But to be honest, one of the most unexpectedly fun and enjoyable nights I had in my “college days” was something similar. An overnight bus ride home from FLA, filled with my post-grad compats, just a couple days before Xmas.

Of course that did involve more than a little alcohol, and my understanding is that such things are now frowned upon. So yeah….get a travel scrabble or something and go crazy.
