Report: CJ Leslie to return for junior season!!!

We’ve been hinting for the last week or so that our ‘gut’ was leading us to believe that CJ Leslie was going to return to NC State for his junior season. Although we don’t seem to have public comment from CJ, Pack Pride just tweeted the following:

Unlike their brethren at Inside Carolina, Pack Pride actually has a fantastic track record of restraint and not mis-reporting things. Through the years they have chosen to wait until they had the appropriate ‘green light’ from the NC State administration &/or their sources. So, I don’t have a problem sharing this report since it is consistent with what we’ve been hearing and also is consistent with some inside rumors we’ve heard over the last 12-18 hours.

…more to come…and, maybe even more good news to come in #WolfpackNation.

Thanks CJL!! It has been great to watch you mature as a basketball player and as a person over the last 2 years. Looking forward to next year. GO PACK!

    Now I can’t WTNY!!!!

Now I can stop checking Twitter every four minutes. This is fantastic news. I was growing more optimistic as time went by without him declaring for the NBA, but it’s nice to have confirmation. CJ has grown up a lot and we’re darn lucky to have him in red and white.

This is a really good decision for Calvin. He will show up this fall as a leader and an example to the incoming class instead of as a question mark. Now we will get to see how Gott handles higher expectations.

I hope so. Calvin could have his jersey in the rafters with this decision. Ced, Hickson, Powell – blips in the memory of avid fans. Calvin can go down with DT, Gugs, Whit and others in Pack history!

    AWWWW Hell!!! It’s ON now!!

Even if I weren’t a State fan I would say that he made a good choice. Way to up your stock Calvin. You will be a top pick next year in addition to forging yourself into the hearts of State fans forever.

Tears of joy were shed today! It feels like Christmas…in April!
Thank you CJ, yes CJ – don’t have to be Calvin anymore.

“I’m staying at State, that’s the decision I’ve made,” said Leslie. “I just felt like this was the best decision for me. The program is moving in the right direction, and I will finish it out and I’m excited about where we are heading at NC State.

“I’m looking forward to the upcoming season. We have some high expectations, and I’m excited about being a leader and help the team the best that I can. I can’t wait.”
    LOVE IT!!

Dang, what am I going to do with my life now that I can rest easy knowing that the core of our hoops squad will be back?

    Oh. Work.

    This is absolutely fantastic news!

    “Now I can’t WTNY!!!!”

Nice! Maybe CWTNY is the ‘new’ WTNY for State.

Can you imagine the eruption of cheers that he’ll be greeted with at the RBC in November?!? Great news.

I’ve got my fingers crossed that he will someday determine that it was a great decision FOR HIM.

His decision came the day after the Kentucky 5 all decided to go pro. Maybe Calvin (back to CJ?) already knew that was going to happen anyway.

Got a chance to be the next Jules and the next legend here.

Hopefully we can still get Amile now.

The bar has been raised and hopefully our guys and staff are up to the task. We will be the hunted next year and we can also be scary good. My what a difference one year makes!

I great day for Wolfpack basketball!

  17. nav 04/18/2012 at 12:02 PM #

I would agree Rochester about stopping Twitter refreshing every 5 sec but I can’t until the Amile draft is over.

Can anyone at all believe that one year ago today we would be sitting here today? Anyone at all?

WAY TO GO CJ !!!! Go WOLFPACK !!

  20. packof81 04/18/2012 at 12:18 PM #

This is GREAT! The roar will be deafening when takes the court next season.

  21. StateFans 04/18/2012 at 12:21 PM #

If everyone would refresh SFN instead of Twitter we could get enough page views to reduce the advertisements that everyone dislikes so much.

  22. Rick 04/18/2012 at 12:23 PM #

He went from being one of my least favorite players to my most favorite all time.
I love the maturity and growth he has shown over the past year and cannot wait to see even more. I am proud he is a Wolfpacker and am thrilled he is coming back.

  23. JeremyH 04/18/2012 at 12:26 PM #

Yes, Rick, the light switch has flipped on and he is poised to have a wondeful junior athletic season and academic year. He will also be in a better position to finish his degree over a couple summer sessions following.

  24. coach13 04/18/2012 at 12:28 PM #

Hope he gets stronger, improves his jumper, and ABSOLUTELY dominates the college scene next year that warrants a lottery pick.

  25. tlk1969 04/18/2012 at 12:29 PM #

    That is absolutely awesome news!

I’m almost afraid to think, for fear that I will jinx us, that our time in purgatory is finally over!
