The State of State 2.0 – Championships

The new school year is upon us and I still have some summaries of the 2008-2009 season to share, better late than never I suppose. This entry will take a look at conference and national titles for both the 2008-2009 school year, for the 9 year tenure of Lee Fowler as AD and for the last 4 years after the ACC fully expanded to include all 12 schools.

Wow! Just wow! This really shows(to anyone with an objective eye) how horrible an AD we have.

Thanks for the report, WV Wolf!

Since the LAST Chancellor couldn’t figure it out, perhaps the new Chancellor can. I don’t care if he is interim or not.

  3. highstick 08/31/2009 at 5:21 PM #

That’s so clear “even a caveman could understand it”!

^^ I emailed him a link – we’ll see! After all, he is an engineer – maybe he really can read graphs and analyze data . . . but would he act on the obvious!

old13, you mailed Jed a link? He’ll say the obvious- that we need better Fuhcilities!

I’m telling you, I love TOB, but everytime he refers to our AD as “Coach Fowler” it makes me throw up a little in my mouth.

There is no other Coach that would be allowed a record as such without being terminated at our University. It is mind boggling.

61, I was responding to StateFans’ post – I sent it to Woodward.

I apologize for changing the subject, but this is my first time posting.

Wolfpack Nation…help me get the word out!
I have been selected to lead the charge to begin a New Wolfpack Tradition at Thursday nights game against “The Cocks!”
A new ERA shall begin with the chant of:
    LET’S GO! —- WOLFPACK!
For years the ringing of WOLF — PACK has echoed the halls of Carter Finley. And it will never be replaced.
But with all great things, there does come a time to take the next step & add to what has gotten us here.

So let us begin on Thursday night…(National ESPN Style)
    A New Tradition Begins…
    LET’S GO — WOLFPACK!!!
Be ready when the time is right!
    Carter Finley will Roar!

    GO PACK!

Great post, you just can’t argue with these facts. We suck and have the numbers to prove it. I think Old 13 is on to something. Maybe if everyone emailed this link to a couple of wolfpackers, or their local media outlet (in NC,) we might start building some ground level support for a change of AD. It would however be nice if this could happen before BB season starts. Wouldn’t some proactive action from our University be a refreshing change of pace? The ball’s in your court Mr. Woodward.

^^Wolfpack Nation, you’ll never replace the WOLF PACK.

  11. waxhaw 09/01/2009 at 8:38 AM #

Do the numbers include championships in sports where not all teams field a team? I think it does because I saw Lacrosse in there.

Obviously it excludes championships where the ACC does not compete. i.e. gymnastics, rifle, etc.

IMO, it is correct to exclude non ACC championships when comparing member schools but it would be just as correct to exclude championships where not all teams compete. How can you get upset when a school doesn’t win a championship in a sport they don’t even compete in?

I’m sure the numbers would still show the same trend but it would at lest be comparing apples to apples.

WV Wolf: If you start excluding sports in which not every school competes, then you will be leaving out 8 ACC sports in which State does compete and you don’t get the full picture.

New basketball uniforms have been sent to the incinerator.

No to offend you, but that “let’s go Wolfpack” really sounds lame when you hear it, i.e. “let’s go Heels”, “let’s go Gamecocks”, “let’s go Pirates”.

Let’s go back and start using:

    Rip ’em Up
    Tear ’em Up
    Give ’em hell, Pack!

    to be followed with:

Whomp ’em up side the head,
whomp ’em up side the head,
yea, whomp ’em up side the head!

I can assure you that the Gamecock fans will be yelling:

    GAME COCKS

Your objective is to drown them out!

Also(and I’m giving advice from personal knowledge of Gamecock football):

Unless Spurrier changes something or Garcia has gotten a lot more polished, they spend a lot of time trying to audible and if you make constant noise, it gets more difficult. I don’t know how many times that I’ve seen them have to call timeout or get penalized cause they couldn’t get the play straight. Rattle Garcia early and both he and Spurrier might get too impatient.

I’ve got a bet with my Gamecock son. Whoever loses has to wear the opposing team’s hat exclusively for the rest of football season! Don’t make me do that!!! Particularly when the bet was my idea!

  14. 61Packer 09/01/2009 at 11:38 AM #

    whomp ’em
    whomp ’em
    ‘side the head
    yea whomp ’em
    up side the head……….repeat generously

sounds like a good game plan to me thur nite!
    fried chicken for all!

Graphically depressing to say the least. Boy am I ready for Thursday night.
