Not to change the subject, but with Cousins committing today, does anyone have an update about Wall’s visit to Baylor this weekend? Is his being there this weekend a hint that he will announce his commitment today as well?

    Thanks for the open thread.

Any chance of a black hole swallowing up the nose dome today?

FSU over Va Tech by 10 … I think the Hokies are pretty much toast.

Ed Davis is 10 billion times better than Deon Thompson.

You know it’s funny, I’m usually optimistic but I have this gut feeling that we lose in the first game of the ACC tournament and we lose bad. I don’t know if it comes from watching the uninspiring play on Saturday against the Cains or maybe just me not wanting to get my hopes too high or what; but I just don’t have a good feeling.

It will be interesting to see what happens. It will be interesting to see how Lowe prepares this team. We’ve seen what they are capable of.

I said it in an earlier thread and I will say it again, I will reserve judgment on Lowe until the last game of this season. I believe this week will be telling for Lowe and will speak volumes if he can get these guys motivated to play inspired basketball and make a little run.

VT,MD and Miami are each NIT bound.

Boy, I just love watching a duke/unc game when they are playing for the conference crown and we’re sitting here talking about if the NIT will be generous enough to give us a bid. Oh well.

The Va Tech loss locks them into the 8-9 game vs. Miami – meaning we get Maryland again on Thursday night.

Please show up this time. God I want us to beat those guys so bad.

ACC has 6 locks (I’m saying BC is a lock for the moment) … Not sure if Va Tech, Maryland, or Miami can get in. BUT, this is an unbelieveably weak bubble this season, so who knows. I hope Maryland doesn’t make it of course, b/c I would like to see those punks get what for from us on Thursday night.

Not going well for Duke – Hansjob and FRASOR have combined to hit three 3-pointers … That can never bode well.

Larry Drew II may just be the second coming of Quentin Thomas. Giggity.

‘Interesting to see how thingsfinally settled out. Miami and GaT finished much lower than expected, it appears.

Wow! They actually called a walk on Danny Green when he didn’t dribble the ball in from the 3-point line.

And, there’s a pretty hot girl behind the Duke bench. Go figure.

There it is – they finally showed the “Nobody makes me bleed my on blood” moment.

  10. BJD95 03/08/2009 at 3:43 PM #

If avoiding them on Friday isn’t enough to make you root for the Holes today – consider this. A Duke win means both of these evil programs gain another regular season title, instead of just one.

ha i just made this post on the other thread, but i figured its more well served here…

It really doesn’t matter to me weather UNC winning a game helps State or not…

I probably wouldn’t pull for those commies over osama and the taliban…us being scared of playing them is our problem, and hopefully it wont be that way much longer!
to me that’s how rivals work…haha the ole ABC club.

i`m done trying to analyse this season in my head…if i rewind to about a month ago, i didn’t see us winning more than 3 games in the ACC, and i don’t think anyone else did either. we doubled that and are taking steps forward, however small they may be. still not completely convinced that sid, et al…can get the job done, but i`m encouraged. it would be nice to add a 5 star recruit to the class…

  12. MrPlywood 03/08/2009 at 3:56 PM #

Did he just say Cryler could go down as the most accomplished player in ACC history? cod… I cannot wait for that for the Great Listener to go have his Adam Morrison-esque NBA career.

  13. BJD95 03/08/2009 at 4:09 PM #

I hope nobody is actually surprised that Cousins signed with Memphis. We’ve been telling you that he wasn’t coming here for months. Wall ain’t coming, either.

Remember back in December, when the CBS national feed wouldn’t leave a fucking regular season women’s game to show the State/Florida broadcast, even in our local market? Hell, I believe they even went to a full round of commercials before jumping to our game about 6 minutes in.

But WRAL made sure it’s beloved blue-bellied viewers didn’t miss today’s tip, even when the CBS feed was showing the finale of a conference title game. Fuck you, WRAL.

  14. thebigwood 03/08/2009 at 4:53 PM #

^Just out of curiosity, how come you feel so confident about Wall?

  15. BJD95 03/08/2009 at 5:03 PM #

Same reason I felt confident about Cousins. Nothing I hear, read, or discern gives me any reason for optimism.

  16. MrPlywood 03/08/2009 at 5:04 PM #

Oh the irony – Cryler’s last game and he fouls out.

  17. CStanley 03/08/2009 at 5:04 PM #

^ Because he would likely have to go to class.

How about this…Hansbrough fouls out of his last home game, when it doesn’t make a shit bit of difference. God I’m ready to see him gone.

  18. BJD95 03/08/2009 at 5:06 PM #

No chance for a third loss to the Holes unless we make it to Sunday. No stroke on Friday for me!

  19. LKNpackfan 03/08/2009 at 5:43 PM #

I think CBS only cut away from the UNI game in the southeast. A friend in Iowa still got the last 90 seconds of that game. Granted, he IS in Iowa, but I still think the cut-away was only for this region.

  20. BJD95 03/08/2009 at 6:09 PM #

So why couldn’t we get a regional cut-away against Florida?

  21. wufpup76 03/08/2009 at 6:20 PM #

^Yes. The feed cut away was isolated to this area only.

“Oh the irony – Cryler’s last game and he fouls out.”

Alas, not before he got away with a huge push in the back on Singler when Singler rebounded a miss with Duke down 4 with about 1:15 to play … Singler came down with his foot on the out of bounds line. Next play is Lawson’s three point play. Does this seem like a similar refrain to anyone?

Three times. Three times fouled out his entire career. Most physical player perhaps ever in the ACC. It must be really nice to have a little bit of talent, be white, and start at Chapel Hole.

  22. wufpup76 03/08/2009 at 6:27 PM #

“So why couldn’t we get a regional cut-away against Florida?”

I think today’s cut away was controlled by CBS as opposed to WRAL … at least according to this:

    http://blogs.newsobserver.com/sportsmedia/duke-unc-tv-issue

I’m also guessing that WRAL had no control over cutting to the State-Florida game at that time either, since the ladies game and our game were both CBS telecasts.

More of CBS’ Seth Davis holding us down … (prick)

In addition to his State bashing, all you really know about Davis is that he feels 9 teams from the Big 10 (11) should be in this year’s NCAA tourny.

  23. BJD95 03/08/2009 at 6:32 PM #

I will bet anything that WRAL asked CBS for the cutaway. Why couldn’t they ask for one for us? The exact same fact scenario, except nobody was watching the womens’ game that CBS stayed with.

Hell, I was enjoying the Valley final!

  24. wufpup76 03/08/2009 at 6:42 PM #

^I would’ve liked to have seen that ending too 🙁

  25. BJD95 03/08/2009 at 6:44 PM #

Looks like we will face the Deacs on Friday if we manage to slip past Maryland.
