Tagged: ALS Chris Combs Inspiration
My cousin David played American Legion with the Combs twins and Jimmy Hunter. David died of ALS almost 14 years ago. It’s an absolutely evil disease, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
Please pray for Chris.
I saw that article earlier. Had difficulty even finishing the read.
And agreed with Frizz, ALS and other similar degenerative neuropathies are some of the cruelest things going.
Hang in there Chris. And as you said so eloquently, value every day and show the ones you love that you love them. Telling them doesn’t hurt either, but your point is well taken.
Follow my friends. The link ‘roo put up there is the second or third time it’s been presented.
I lost an Uncle to ALS…evil disease. He was one of the most talented musicians that I have had the privilege to meet. He was from down here in New Bern, NC. Played first chair trumpet as a freshman in high school, joined the US Army and was accepted into the Field Band during the Vietnam Era (after graduating from ECU’s school of music), earned his Masters Degree from Miami of Ohio, and shared the stage with Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie…not bad for a poor white boy from Craven County. My Uncle Jesse Nelson is my musical hero.
I have a photo of him with Dizzy backstage in Chicago during the 80’s if anyone is interested.
Chris, keep up the fight.

Anybody got a private plane and want to make a Wolfpack “Emotional” donation by keeping Francis’ streak alive?
I read this and as a father who knew causally knew Freddie at NCSU and also have got to know Chris through the WPC, I teared up.
Not “Make A Wish” material….but still, if I had the resources, my Lear would be fueled and ready and I would hope that my pilots enjoyed the game as well…
