I carved this completely out of the comments section – I offer wufpup76 a well-earned hat tip: Just got back from the game … Here is my postgame report – – Obviously, the big news of the night is the injury to Johnny Thomas, which is very unfortunate … I did’nt see it happen (obscured […]
Wolfpack Alum Taking National Stage
NC State graduate Robert Gibbs will be President-elect Barack Obama’s first White House press secretary. To my knowledge, he will be the first Wolfpacker to hold this position. In other political news, the Associated Press has called North Carolina for Barack Obama. That means a great deal to me personally.
State/Maryland Game Thread
Marlyand 27 – NC State 24 FINAL The Wolfpack defense yields a drive to their two-yard line as the clock melts towards zeros, and Maryland makes a field goal try to once again put the Pack in the “Close, But No Cigar” department. Â No moral victory, this. Link to N&O’s in-game blog 24-24 nearing […]
Commenters Needed This Saturday
One of the privileges of having authorship rights is being able to ask the SFN community to cover you when other obligations arise. I will be at a party on Saturday, in an area with no ESPN360 coverage. In such an environment, I will not be able to follow a radio broadcast. Even for others […]
Scattered Post-Game Thoughts
I strongly reiterate what I said after the South Florida beatdown. We are playing with house money this year, and have no right to expect anything positive. You know the old saying about bringing a knife to a gun fight? TOB and staff are bringing a spork. Still, this one hurts, especially knowing that Chuck […]
Tomorrow, It’s All About Rewarding Faith
Almost 22 months ago, Tom O’Brien was on the verge a possible dream season – Matt Ryan’s (future Top 5 NFL draft pick, and Day One starter for the Atlanta Falcons) senior year, surrounded by a bevy of seasoned upperclassmen. The kind of team that wins league titles. The kind of team that, given a […]
TOB – No Clarification on Pack Injuries
Per the N&O writeup, Beck is still listed as the starter for Saturday: “We don’t know [Wilson’s status],” coach Tom O’Brien said during his weekly news conference Monday. “We’ll have to wait and see. Right now Beck is the starter, and we’re going into the week with him preparing to play.” My biggest fear was […]
Post-Game Thoughts
* NC State took the field against a good, versatile QB and an excellent, athletic defense (justifiably a Top 15-20 caliber team, unlike ECU) without one single above-average player on either side of the ball. We could play USF 100 times, and we’d lose at least 99. * USF clearly watched film of last week’s […]
Pack/Da Bulls Game Thread
Sorry I forgot to put this up before leaving for the stadium. I blame the Benadryl. It’s already 7-0, and we will need divine intervention to compete tonight. But Beck has promised to “throw it where he throws it” – so prepare to be entertained.
Saturday Football Open Thread (Updated 1:45pm)
Naturally, when the Pack finally gets a coveted Saturday night home game…all the good TV matchups are late starts (Alabama at Georgia being the highlight). I suppose UNC/Miami is somewhat interesting, in that a loss would almost surely knock the Holes out of Coastal Division contention. And a loss really should be the end result […]
