Game Thread: Pack Football in Tallahassee

Wolfpack Football (6-3, 2-3 ACC) hits the road today for the last time in the ’15 regular season as they travel to Doak Campbell Stadium to take on the #19 Florida State Seminoles (7-2, 5-2 ACC).

The Pack is coming off a big bounce back win at Boston College last week, while the ‘Noles will try to bounce back vs the Pack after dropping one at Death Valley last week.  A loss which put the nails in the coffin of their ’15 ACC Title hopes.

Can the Wolfpack catch the ‘Noles still reeling?  Or will the ‘Noles come out intent to prove that even sans Famous Jameis they are a force to be reckoned with?

Last year, in case you’ve forgotten…..

A win at FSU would give the Pack a fifth road win, the most since 1957.  It would also go a long way toward gaining some respectability among the great unwashed.

Not to mention take away the bad taste, at least to a degree, that teh Bill and Mary provided last night.

Alls I can say is I’ve already got my baseball tix ordered.

But first things first.  Let the push to Charlotte continue….

Once again, it’s the coveted 12:30pm slot.  (/sarcasm)

Wolfpack Seeks Fifth Road Win at FSU (GoPack.com)

RALEIGH, N.C. – The year 1957 was a very good one for NC State football. In a season that ended with the school’s first ACC Championship, star tailback Dick Christy earned legendary status by scoring all of the Wolfpack’s points in the clincher, a season-ending 29-26 triumph at South Carolina. The dramatic victory over the Gamecocks also gave the Pack its fifth road win that year, something no other NC State team has accomplished since.

Flash forward to 2015.

When the Pack plays its final road game of the season on Saturday, NC State (6-3, 2-3) will be trying to match the famed 1957 team when it shoots for its fifth win in hostile territory. Standing in the way will be 19th ranked Florida State (7-2, 5-2).

The Wolfpack and Seminoles are slated to kick things off from Doak Campbell Stadium at 12:30 p.m.

NC State owns road wins at Old Dominion, South Alabama, Wake Forest and Boston College this season with the lone defeat coming at Virginia Tech.

“I challenged the players,” said State head coach Dave Doeren. “We could be tied with the winningest road team in NC State history if we can win this game. To me that’s what this is all about, it’s all about how can you create history and leave a legacy. We’re fighting to get to better status than we were a year ago, so winning this game would give us the right to say we’re tied as the winningest road team in NC State history. I think they’re excited about that challenge.”

Game Notes

I have to admit that I feel oddly confident about today’s game.  I’m not saying that I think we’ll win, but I do think we’ll show up and at least give as good as we get.

And also maybe win.

Or perhaps after losing last night’s basketball opener at home to Bill and Mary, there’s little left to fear in a road loss to FSU in football.

What could go wrong???

We should all consider an herbal rectal flush going into Syracuse.

Colonics for everyone. My treat. I’m not adminstering them by any means, but …I can set ya up.

NC State sports makes me want herbal therapy, but I think you’re applying it to the wrong hole.

foose: Your take on Syracuse is the same as mine. It’s a “must win” so we don’t take a step backwards.

Take care of business against the Cuse, and get the win. Hopefully we don’t have any more attrition.

Then go play UNC and pull out all the stops. Throw over the top the first play. Jailbreak blitz right off the bat and try and knock Williams out. Go for it on 4th down. Play like there’s nothing to lose, and there’s a chance for a win. Play aggressively for a quarter and then sit on it, and it’s going to get ugly.

Wolfpack92owen, just wondering who the tarholes are crushing. Teams from their weak division, even then they didn’t crush GT, or Pitt, just a TD difference in both those wins. And would be curious as to the record of the teams they have defeated. Again, as I said, I am still not convinced how legit they are, as even the ESPN guys, have continued to bring up their strength of schedule. We will find out more the next 2 games. Until then, the verdict is still out. Go Pack!
