Selection Sunday – Joyous Day (List Predictions)

Oh the joy of Selection Sunday, when you know your name will be called. Is any day (well, other than Glorious May Day) sweeter? Mark Gottfried goes 4-4, which is a nice preamble to what could be an extremely special Year Five. And hell, this season has been pretty special in its own right, at least in being an enjoyable (if somewhat turbulent) ride, following a likable group of kids who found themselves just in the nick of time.

The Politburo/Supreme Soviet asks the proletariat to kindly predict the wolven seed and Round of 32 matchup. NOTE: This is most certainly NOT assuming an opening round win, just that it’s too hard to predict that opponent, and I think this will be a fun exercise.

Officially, I am sticking with #8 and Kentucky. And I have decided that I am totally ok with that. Bring it on.

Whilst we wait, enjoy the first studio album of New Mexico’s finest (The Shins, since Walt’s blue meth is all seized by now):

Sad. Temple sounds like they got screwed. I will trade ycla in tourney instead of uconn. Watching purvis hog the ball today was nauseating.

Miami should be furious. Better than that crap. At least davidson is in. Who is getting the shaft. Xavier..

Xavier is a six seed. Hardly the shaft

He basically said “they looked a lot less shitty the way lost the last few weeks of the season.”

Just so long as his mom is happy…

And shit, they must LOVE the Big East. Georgetown a 4? Xavier a 9-9 team with dicey OOC record as a 6?

Just had not seen xavier in yet when i posted and thought that xavier was more 8 or 9 seed being left out. When he said eye test he might have been talking about ucla cheerleaders. They are hot. Only eye test i saw.

If anyone ever suggests something ‘for certain’ when it comes to this, just remember that a 21-13 Xavier squad drew a freaking 6-seed.

That would be Xavier with losses to UTEP, Seton Hall, Long Beach St., Auburn, Creighton, and DePaul.

    Poor decision-making Rob Lowe.

But back to us. We are in the weak half of the easiest bracket. Our first round foe just lost to Auburn and BSW will be out for vengeance. Second round foe’s calling card is not having any star-caliber players. HOLY SHITSNACKS, GUYS!!!

UNCCH, ND and DOOK won’t meet any ACC foe until Final Four. Grrrr.

This makes more sense than anything he said regarding UCLA. Maybe the worst selection I’ve ever seen, or at least as I can recall in recent years. Horrible.

We won’t lose to stinking Northern Iowa if’n we get there, neither.

Our first round foe just lost to Auburn

They also won @ West Virginia … I like NC State a lot in this match-up, but our players seem to have this thing about listening to the press / outside sources too much.

“They just lost to Auburn durr-hurr! This should be totes easy!!”

This is what I’m most worried about. If NC State is focused and determined I like Pack in a walk. LSU is as undisciplined as they come. Clearly Clark Kellogg should be an NBA GM, so he could run his team based on potential as opposed to actual substance and results.

Plus we get to wear our home grays in game one. I know how much some of ‘us’ love those.

The funniest thing I heard on CBS? The notion that Maryland could bother Kentucky. FUCKING MARYLAND.

Just went back to check Lunardi’s work, and man is he good. He missed two – he had Temple and Colorado State in and not UCLA and Indy. A bunch of his seedings were right on, too (he had us as an 8, and we’re an 8!).

Just heard the head of the selection speak and had UConn won today, Dayton would have been the odd man out. Wow. Lunardi had Dayton as a solid 9, not even close to the play-in.

    More wishful thinking than prescient…

If our Dr. Jekyll team shows up, we can take LSU and Nova.
