Sunday Night Hoops

Sadly, the Holes have found their stride and will blow past Creighton. But we can still scout Kansas and Purdue for next Friday, and enjoy a few other nontraditional matchups – such as South Florida and Ohio vying for the right to square off against Carolina. Norfolk State is cooked, but perhaps Lehigh can squeeze by Xavier and keep a true underdog alive past the first weekend.

Roy Williams just confirmed it in his post game press conference.

    hate it for the kid.

Not surprising, considering how Creighton played all day long.

Tanya Harding coaching the Jays today.

What matters now is the likely opponent Kansas but with this “run”, great comments about Gottfried all over the press and this total team effort one has to wonder if it may not sway over Amile Jefforson. The latest rumors was that he was between us and doooke. We are still playing 🙂

A lot of wrist action over there in Chapel Hill. Sorry, couldn’t resist…

And Kentucky can go ahead and pop their champagne. First Syracuse, now the Holes have self-destructed. Wow.

I swear it is like someone killed Kenny’s dog

We’ve got a game before that is even an issue.

I would also tell you that it probably depends on the type of fx. I had a hairline fx in my wrist when I was younger and didn’t need a cast. Translation depending on the severity and location of it, he could very well play and be somewhat effective.

Finally, he seems like a good person. He’s very intelligent and articulate. I hate it for him as a person.

I agree, even if Marshal plays he will be ineffective at best. Stillman White will have to step up. (Sarcasm). For us to defeat Purdue or Kansas will be a task and a half.

  9. Wufpacker 03/18/2012 at 7:48 PM #

Dang. Sounds like something that would happen to us.

Would be awesome if Purdue won, would mean that either the Boilers, USF, Ohio, or us would be in the Final Four.

I don’t think the Holes would even beat BC more than half the time sans Marshall.

I feel bad for the kid, though.

McCallum, thinking the Players Retreat post KU.

  12. ToddFullerismyHomeboy 03/18/2012 at 7:49 PM #

Because the same exact thing happened to Kenny Smith 2 decades ago.

Sucks he got hurt, but he is the one that said he hoped we made the tourny for the acc and our players but definately NOT for our fans. IDK what us fans ever did to him

Unsurprisingly USF has good looking cheerleaders.

It has been injury central at UNC with Strickland, McDonald, Henson and now Marshall. That’s nearly a fourth of the team and all solid players.

I would think Barnes could handle the point if he had to. Certainly has all the necessary skills.

    McCollum is a beast

  17. Hawkeye Whitney 03/18/2012 at 7:59 PM #

No love lost for the Holes, but I feel sorry for that kid.

Excuses, excuses, excuses, the Heels ALWAYS have excuses!

    What goes around, comes around!

Wonder if Barnes, Henson and Marshall comeback next year? They lose Zeller and some bench players, who are seniors.

With our incoming freshmen and Vandenberg back, if Leslie and Brown stick around, the Triangle could be very interesting in basketball again.

Monte Towe had a broken left wrist in 1973. He played point guard for an undefeated team with a splint and never missed a game. Just saying–if you are tough, you play. And when we are hungry, we eat. Go Pack!!

  21. TLeo 03/18/2012 at 8:05 PM #

Apparently Roy confirmed it is the scaphoid bone in his wrist. If so , from what I have heard it will have to be in a cast and his playing is done for the year. Of course, they could overplay and exagerate this at cheater hill and it noit be as serious as it seems. Big loss for them…he has been carrying them lately.

Injuries are like rampant academic fraud and agents on the coaching staff. It happens everywhere 🙂

  23. Hawkeye Whitney 03/18/2012 at 8:07 PM #

I think if Lehigh played Duke 10 times, Lehigh wins 7 of them.

Anyone have a link to Gott’s post game news conference?

  25. BJD95 03/18/2012 at 8:10 PM #

    Yeah, Lehigh looks awfully legit.
