It would suit me just fine if all of them were played in Reynolds.

Fort Valley State-who the hell is Fort Valley State? Don’t get me wrong I love the idea of playing at Renoylds but it would be cool if it were against some top tier schools-otherwise…

Sounds like Fowler is trying to take all the credit for this, but the real reason is just because of scheduling conflicts. Typical.

  4. backinpack 08/08/2008 at 5:24 PM #

This is so stupid. The new layout is terrible (I was there for the NIT games) and I can’t stand it compared to the way it used to be. We need to stop playing games there and much have scheduling priority in the V-Dome.

  5. packpigskinfan23 08/08/2008 at 6:49 PM #

backinpack- NCState WILL NEVER have top priority at the RBC. The Hurricanes will always have top priority, as they play 40+ games a season, and bring in much more revenue in consesions.

I am glad to see the games at Reynolds, but am torn as the tickets will be VERY hard to get.

Playing in Reynolds will help us get our MOJO back. If Sidney Lowe could get some ballers in da house like Deron Washington/Ryan Reid/Gerald Henderson (referred to by Coach K as “G”)/Laettner/Washburn/Shackleford/Larry Brown, we could set this place on fire (no, not referring to Corchiani by saying fire). Sidney just needs to maximize his street cred and get some young ballers on this team. We need to get NC State back to the level it once was. I am getting so darn tired of hearing about Duke all of the time, and UNC is starting to get some of its respect back from the early 2000’s debacle. I am convinced that if we will go after the “Shacklefords & Washburns” that are currently in high school, we will be back contending in the ACC. We all know that Sidney is capable of doing that with the urban respect that he gets.

Even with the finess type of players we currently have, I expect this season to be better than the last. If the refs will call fouls when our guards are being clotheslined (remember Duke game last year), we could have a shot at breaking even in the ACC.

When you first saw the color scheme, you knew where NC State was going to stand in the ESA pecking order.

The Chinese put on an impressive show, but more than a little bit creepy.

  9. PackGirl 08/08/2008 at 8:22 PM #

^Very creepy, I agree. Only slaves could be that compliant.

  10. txpack 08/08/2008 at 11:54 PM #

BJD and PackGirl, have to respectfully disagree here. My Chinese background may make me view this Olympics differently. Yes, there are lots of problems in China. But comparing to the days when I was in China (early 80s), today is a totally different world. Most people I have met in US are very opening minded. There are few people still thinking China is the country pictured in the old books.

The “slaves” comments are out of mind. We are here to discuss Wolfpack basketball.

Yes, totalitarian regimes are usually really good @ grand spectacles

TXpack, her comments WERE about State basketball. You are too sensitive to be involved in sports where people lose, and even humiliated at times. Crochet may be your sport.

  13. Bynum State Fan 08/09/2008 at 9:25 AM #

I also don’t appreciate you bringing up your Chinese childhood after criticizing someone for not talking about State basketball. Don’t criticize people for doing something that you intend to do yourself. BTW, neither one of your comments bother me at all because I am not that darn sensitive to let casual conversation bother me that much. Good luck to all!

  14. txpack 08/09/2008 at 10:09 AM #

Thanks, Bynum. Honestly, I am not care much about the China comments. But I am not happy about “slaves”. Having so many black friends here, this is the one word I never use.

StateFans, please remove my comments if needed.

No need to remove comments, people can say whatever they feel.

I guess some comments were removed because I am lost.
on to playing at WNR Coliseum, or the Cigarette Dome as I fondly recall it. Good to see us continue to use the Old Barn, how did they reconfigure it? build a stage at one end or something? Fowler is such an asshat for saying he wants to accommodate students by playing on campus, so they do it during exams or winter break – nice. like I said Ass Hat.

I saw a troupe of Chinese acrobats at the Barn once in the 70s, Friends of the College program. Students got in free. It was very cool.

I really hope that some comments were deleted, cause if not then BSF and PackGirl look like “ass hats” themselves. I can agree that the ceremony had its “creepy” parts, but it also had extremely emotional and joyous parts. It was the best opening ceremony I have ever seen. I can see why txpack would take offense to the comments that were made. I know my Chinese roommate would, even if he didnt say anything.

To correct this issue, the long range plan needs to be a 17000+ seat arena on campus. However, that is unlikely to happen. Where would you put it? Centennial? May as well keep it at the RBC Center. Either demolish or massively retrofit Reynolds? That would be logistically tough given the number of sports that play in there.

The current student issue could be resolved more easily by providing better bus transportation for them to and from campus, and providing them better parking (where are student allow to park currently? and do they have to pay?)

In the meantime, I’m a little bit tweaked that I’ll get to see fewer games in my RBC center seats. I imagine that season ticket packages will include the exhibition games in Reynolds, since those have been General Admission games in the RBC for years – it’d be interesting to see what happens if more than 5000 people show up for one…but that’s pretty unlikely.

It’d be real nice if ol’ Jed would get more interested in HOW we play (any sport) that who we play or where!

  20. BJD95 08/09/2008 at 12:50 PM #

I certainly MEANT it to read as if it was simultaneously impressive and kind of creepy (the sheer numbers involved and the uniformity of movement). Didn’t mean to be offensive in any way.

  21. PackGirl 08/09/2008 at 12:54 PM #

No one should be afraid to use the word slaves. They still exist today in certain countries and sectors of society (sex slaves, etc) and not using the word doesn’t help that any. My use of the term may have been a bit extreme for the situation but I was being honest about the feeling I got watching the parts of the ceremony where they had 1000’s of people working in unison with perfect timing. It was amazing and spectacular that they could pull it off, but I couldn’t help but think that people living in a free society would not be motivated enough or have the discipline to pull that off. It was not an anti-Chinese comment, it was an anti-communism comment. Sorry for getting off topic – back to the discussion of games at Reynolds.

students park behind vaughn towers in the carter finley parking lot
and can park free so long as someone in the car produces a student id

I would personally be scared to live beside someone that is so sensitive that mere “words” could set them off course like that. I wish we could play as many as possible in Reynolds.

  24. Primewolf 08/10/2008 at 6:54 PM #

Please hold more OOC no name games in Reynolds. How about 5-6 of the usual fodder we have to pay big bucks to see in RBC.

For my $500 RBC season tickets (each), I would love to have that price reduced as more games are moved. $500 for 8 ACC games and 1-2 decent OOC opponents. Too much.

However, I am sure NCSU admin will charge me just as much to see fewer games even if they move 3-4 to Reynolds.

The love affair with Reynolds is a myth. There are only 4000-5000 decent seats in the whole place. Fill ‘er up students.

So, for those of you who hold lifetime rights, do you feel that this dilutes the value of your LTR purchase?

I assume that they won’t be throwing those tickets into the season ticket package for free for us LTR holders.
