ACCSports.com - Wolfpack Insider Free Today

ACCSports.com/ACC Sports Journal is allowing free access to their NC State team report today.

Wilson Offers Program Hope provides a deeper look at the obvious ‘hot issue’ of the moment within the NC State Football program — the impressive emergence of quarterback, Russell Wilson.

Ever since he got knocked out against South Carolina in the season opener and got his feet wet against Clemson, Wilson has played lights-out. As strange as it may seem for someone who didn’t even lock up his own starting position until late August, Wilson even could be emerging as a favorite to be the top quarterback in the ACC when the all-conference teams are selected.

Red Means Go Contest

If you are not familiar with the Red Means Go campaign then you definitely need to read this important entry.

We wanted to take this opportunity to draw your attention to the new contest to give away a $1,000 gift card to the NC State Student Store — click here for more

J-Co’s amazing one handed - or one headed? - catch

NC State may choose to under-promote our alums currently making major contributions in the National Football League, but we will do our best not to ignore their contributions.

Jerricho Cotchery has proven that he is good for at least three or four bigtime highlights each year, and last night’s catch on national television against the Patriots ranks right up there with the best of them. J-Co undoubtedly deserves the praise and pay that he receives.

Wilson Stakes Claim; Wake up this weekend

A lot has been (deservedly) made of the fantastic play of NC State’s red shirt freshman quarterback, Russell Wilson.

Wilson has performed better than almost anyone could have dreamed this season and has therefore promised to make the quarterback competition with freshman Mike Glennon interesting to watch in the future. (What a nice ‘problem’ to have).

Wilson is playing so well that our own BJD walked the line of heresy without raising much ire by making the following comment after the Wolfpack’s win over Duke this weekend:

UGA girl meets the bathroom stall

Tip to Deadspin. There is just no way that we couldn’t post this.

Roll Tide

I’m sorry…I just cannot resist.

Red Means Go - Somebody Gets It!

RedMeansGo

If you’re an avid NC State fan you may have missed it.

Perhaps you walked away from the television trying to beat your head against the wall after another of Tom O’Brien’s players was injured. Or…maybe you were in the stands during our televised games this season concentrating on a return on investment analysis of your Lifetime Rights If you were in the stands maybe you were so engrossed in the game that you were watching substitution patterns instead of the drivel on the jumbotron (which probably wasn’t audible anyway with Carter-Finley’s antiquated sound system).

Video Look at Saturday

NCSU ends BS of ECU in BCS w/ W in OT

I would love to embed this video from the N&O but the “Old Reliable” (chuckle, chuckle) doesn’t share embed code in their videos. If you watch it, pay special attention to Jarvis Williams’ touchdown catch at about 1 minute and 30 seconds into the clip. WOW! That field-level angle provides a great sense for how awesome that catch - and throw - was.

J-Co is going to love Brett Favre

The Wolfpack-centric, NFL story of the day was almost the San Diego Chargers’ amazing comeback led by Philip Rivers. Instead, we’ve got Brett Favre to J-CO.

Flags Up! See you in Columbia

(Somebody help these guys with their grammar)

Plus, we can’t forget our competition. The following was previously discussed here.

Football is coming…

Cullen Jones Wins Gold in Men’s 4X100 Relay

Amazing race that is sure to be one of those unforgettable Olympic moments and NC State’s Cullen Jones wins a gold medal in Beijing while Michael Phelps’ quest for 8 gold medals marches forward. You can click here to the race from NBC/MSN.

Raycom to expand web and television interaction; NC State officials dumbfounded, irate

The application will be synchronized with the game telecast and be surrounded by online ads.

Ty Lawson: “70/40 (to stay in NBA Draft)”

You cannot make this stuff up. It is nice to know that “Curry Math” continues to be taught at Carolina. Just remember, Chris Washburn was at State almost 25 years ago.

Heck…while we are talking about Carolina athletes who are a little on the small side why don’t we also highlight that Dexter Reid was convicted on a felony drug conviction this week.

You probably remember Reid as a motor-mouth from the Tarheel secondary a few years ago who intentionally pushed a television camera man to the ground in the back of the Carter-Finley end zone during one of his appearances in Raleigh.

Happy Memorial Day, 2008

Let’s remember Pat Tillman today.

Are You on Facebook?

I know what you more mature readers are asking and saying right now

Facebook? Is this a joke? What college student has taken over SFN?

Well, this is not a joke.

After reading dozens of articles in the past year in The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Forbes, Fortune and other business magazines SFN (and some of our bloggers) have taken the plunge into another realm of cyberspace by opening Facebook profiles. We’ve been pretty amazed at all of the various ways that the tool can be used.

Where Amazing Happens…Happened

Tip of the hat to the Pack Pride message boards for highlighting this fantastic YouTube Video titled, “Where Amazing Happens - NC State”.

Without explicitly stating it, this video provides a damning commentary of the current nature of the NC State athletics program as the bulk of the actual achievements in the video all took place in the past with none taking place within the last four years. How about we rename it, “Where Amazing Happened”?

Flashback in Battle of the YouTube Videos

SFN was en feugo yesterday with tons of great stuff on the site like beowulf’s instant classic of “The Chilling Anniversary of the Broken Nose”

The hilarious ‘Hitler is a Gamecock fan’ video reminded us of post we made back in August of 2006 that a parody for a Clemson promotional video. In the interest of providing even time to each school we wanted to link that video here.

Hitler - The Gamecock Fan

Very funny video created by some Clemson fans.
