Wolfpack Baseball Win Streak Now at 10
Pack Baseball had a good weekend at the beach.
After getting by a UMBC team 5-3 on Friday that was a lot pluckier than I gave them credit for, the Pack won Saturday in 10 innings vs Fla. Atlantic, 2-1. Trea Turner led off the 10th with a double and eventually came around to score the game winner. Ryan Wilkins (1-0) took the win, Carlos Rodon went 7 complete innings and fanned 16 batters, but did not figure in the decision.
Sunday night, State also got the victory in 10 innings, this time vs Coastal Carolina. And again it was Trea Turner front and center. After Sam Morgan walked and then advanced to second when Bryan Adametz was hit by a pitch, Turner stepped in and singled Morgan home for the game winner. Wilkins (2-0) again took the victory, throwing the last 3.2 scoreless innings for the Pack.
And Carlos Rodon, who was slotted in the DH slot for the Pack on Sunday, got two more strikeouts on the weekend but not in a good way, going 0-fer in four at bats.

So the Pack is now 10-1 and riding a 10 game win streak as they come home to face Elon and Campbell on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, and then welcome Clemson to town for a three game set this weekend (3/8 – 3/10) to start conference play.
Incidentally, all three Clemson games are slated to be streamed over ESPN3

Nice work boys. Loved listening in on the radio.
Turner’s game is evolving way past the base stealing, table-setting catalyst that he was last year. He’s still all those things, but he’s adding clutch hitting to his repertoire this year. I can live with a few errors if he keeps making up for them at the plate.
Rodon at the DH is kinda fun. I’m all for him getting more at-bats if he’s earning them in the cage and at BP. Good for team morale I’d guess as well.
