2013 Football Schedule Released
8/31 Louisiana Tech
9/7 Richmond
9/14 OPEN
9/19 Clemson (ESPN Thursday)
9/28 Central Michigan
10/5 @ Wake Forest
10/12 Syracuse
10/19 OPEN
10/26 @ Florida State
11/2 North Carolina
11/9 @ Duke
11/16 @ Boston College
11/23 East Carolina
11/30 Maryland
I like the fact that we get Syracuse, ECU, Maryland and UNC-CHeats at home as I think these four games help comprise a pool of 6 to 8 ‘swing games’ on our schedule this year (that probably also includes Boston College, Wake Forest and Duke).
This link will take you to PDF version of a composite schedule for the entire Atlantic Coast Conference that can be visually jarring at first glimpse for us old timers.

Hey we finally open conference play at home
The PDF is visually jarring because it’s poorly drawn with jagged, low res graphics.
Also, they’ve got our column right beside Swear-n-cuss. Their orange block S looks similar to pale red, mangled rendition of ours.
Well we can’t get stuck with Maryland as the last game much longer, thank god!
If UNC and Duke are gonna fight over that Victory Bell in the last game and other teams like Clemson, FSU, UVA, VA Tech etc are locked into season ending games, I’d rather it be Wake than BC.
We can’t seem to win at Wake (at least 0-3 in last three visits .. I’ve been to all of those head scratchers) and they have occasionally given a good game in Raleigh. I think Wake wants to end with an OOC (like Vandy this year) but I think the ACC should want teams to end in conference if possible.
Maybe that is Wake’s request every year is OOC as last game.
On the plus side, we didn’t lose THREE weekends with a game this year due to the fair. Just a bye and one away. How nice to have a game on Oct 12 with the Orange. I always bitch about the loss of three potentially beautiful October football weekends to the fair. Two is a little more palatable.
One would assume week’s 1 and 2 are 6 PM kickoffs. Roast at the tailgate, cool off (maybe) a little at the game.
So, based on 2012 End of Season rankings…our opposition rated:
Louisiana Tech – #50
Richmond – #FCS
Clemson – #7
Central Michigan – #85
Wake Forest – #76
Syracuse – #22
Florida State – #12
North Carolina – #43
Duke – #67
Boston College – #92
East Carolina – #84
Maryland – #81
Average: 56.27
Remove Clemson/FSU – Average – 66.67
Applying my significant mathematical skills and making up rules as I go, I assert…
We have to be the 66th best team in the country to go to a bowl game.
The 49th best team in the country to go 8-4
The 21st best team in the country to go 10-2
I’ll let y’all pick where you think we are going to fall.
(I was going to add about 47 lines of caveat’s on my analysis here, but you guys are going to ignore them anyway, so, to heck with it)
Caveat Emptor!
So when is Maryland leaving?
Ouch. 9/19 Clemson on ESPN.
May as well get it over with I suppose.
It sucks that once again we may have to wait until October before we beat a real team.
That last game vs. UMD is a cruel joke
We will know soon enough if we are a contender with Clemson early.
This is a honeymoon year with CDD and a new QB. That said, it’s an easy schedule with 8 home games and 4 easier OOC games. Thanks to Fergus for the analysis. While the season ending rankings aren’t very transitive, it’s enough for me to think we go to a bowl. I am looking forward to see what our new team looks like.
The really bad news is that we’re wearing “black” in all games.
I think we should go Dark blue uni’s with light blue numbers. Perhaps high stick would like that better than black
Anyone heard about any serious discussion to put Field Turf in at CFS, or is that just monkey board talk?
I personally HATE the idea. Football is made to be played on dirt, not a plastic tarp with ground up tires.
^I certainly hope not! Didn’t they just redo the field a few years ago to remove the crown? I really hate the idea do field turf outside, especially when some places go to such lengths to put REAL grass INDOORS.
I tend to think that this is a very manageable schedule. I see no reason why we can’t go 4-0 in the non-conference. TOB finally had a schedule easy enough to do so.
We really need to get the FCS teams off the schedule. That game really does nothing for us.
The bad news is that I fully expect us to start 1-4 in conference. I then expect us to rally to 4-4.
Compared to last season, this is a GREAT home schedule!
We play 2 games out of state. I’ve never been to 10 games in one year, but this could be a first!
We finally open conference play at home…and it’s a nationally televised, unwinnable game (that will liklely be a massacre). Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!
I am glad that the pointless game I (and DY) hate playing is at least not the season finale. That is a huge relief.
This will be Maryland’s last ACC game ever, right? That’s kind of interesting.
We are gonna be lousy, but I still look forward to watching us play with house money. Football is beautiful.
” We finally open conference play at home…and it’s a nationally televised, unwinnable game (that will liklely be a massacre) ”
Do I have to start this early on ya, Beej ?
But…since you guys messed with the Haitian Queen with your worship of some silly, commercialized cartoon meme, I just don’t think I can guarantee anything, anymore.
With a new coaching staff and starting QB, going better than 7 – 5 will be a surprise even versus a weak schedule.
