State UNC game thread

Since I started the game threads we are 3-0. Since I am obviously the reason we keep winning I will keep doing the game thread. Ironically I will not be watching the game or able to join the game thread as my wife committed me to attend her nephew’s daughter’s baptism. Sigh. That means someone else will need to carry on the nickname “Buckets” and start the new one “Player X”.

I have no idea how this game will go. They will be playing “small ball” and we will be looking to score in the paint. Whichever team is able to force their will on the other will win. We should be more consistent as we will not be relying on the three, so if UNC gets hot we need to minimize the damage and keep our heads. This will be a close but high scoring game. I think we win it 87-83.

“The team didn’t help Calvin get out of his slump. That’s on Brown, Wood and Warren. They were awful in that respect.”

Probably a reason for that. They see the lost cause up close and personal.

Smasher- then they shouldn’t be playing in the game. For the way they played, I’d rather have Calvin fighting through the slump than them. WBS can feed him the ball.

You NEVER quit on your teammates. Guards/wings are responsible for giving their big guys a chance to get easy buckets. If they aren’t, they are not being team players. Our bench is too thin.

I would have benched Wood a few times too. On the other hand, our guards also didn’t even continue to get Wood the ball (at a good spot) when he was hot either.

It just wasn’t a good day for us. Howell is the only one that played decent and that was self-driven (rebounding). That’s not Leslie’s game nor should it be.

^^ There actually might be some truth to that, but you still have to help him out when he’s struggling.

That’s where Lewis could have helped IMHO, but on the other end of the floor he was just in over his head, thus the old “we are who we are” thing I guess.

EDIT – Nevermind…Wuffette said it better than I did. She’s both smarter and a better and faster typist than I, apparently.

Wufpacker- it’s the woman thing isn’t it? I’ll take it. Or are you just saying that because you were thinking the same thoughts. :)

What’s the woman thing? You calling me a girl or something? If so, don’t worry….you wouldn’t be the first.

Actually, if I may be serious for a moment…

Was saying that yes, I was thinking the same thing and tried to express it, but didn’t do so nearly as well as you did. Or as quickly or as thoroughly.

    Damn woman.

(Still say this catastrophe is Rick’s fault.)

Well, I guess we’ll have to find a new victim to start Wednesday’s game thread now.

The good news is that I can go ahead and get the haircut I’ve been avoiding. Being superstitious about sports is kinda inconvenient at times.

Well, he’s 3-0 when he’s here with us.

I understand. Have a good evening Shaggy. :)
