That was called a travel, and not a foul?
The only “traveling problem” I see with the Wolfpack is that they keep losing almost every time they travel away from home to play.
Great pic! That arm bar & reach-in had nothing to do with taking extra steps.

Who is this CJ? Looks like Flu of Death Super Calvin to me.
I know this is a sarcastic post, but let me pose a few related observations. CJ does hacked down inside a lot. He operates better in space where he can take overmatched opponents off the dribble. But down inside in traffic, hacked or not, he shuffles his feet a lot and puts the ball on the floor instead of going straight at the hole. As much of a beast he is, Sir Rich also brings the ball down low and puts it on the floor too much. Both WFU and UVA were swiping the ball out of both their hands so much, it looked to be part of their defensive game plan.
Richard Howell was whistled for a foul on that play, iirc.
CJ’s traveling problem is he tends to have trouble dribbling when a defender is holding his arm. This thread should be retitled to : acc ref problem. These are the same officials who routinely watched hansborough switch pivot feet multiple times before taking a shot and also watched him sashay down the floor ball in hand.
In regard to calling fouls versus traveling, if that had been CJ Leslie instead of Mason Plumlee in the last play of that Duke-WFU game, he would have been called for an offensive foul. But it went Plumlee’s way. I’m not saying Leslie is the perfect ball handler — but in critical points of games, Leslie usually does not get the benefit of the call, for whatever reason.
I agree the officiating wasn’t great but this team needs to learn how to win these close games on the road.
Our tendacy is to give the ball to Leslie and watch the show-this equation doesn’t seem to be working. Leslie’s just trying to create something out of nothing and it’s killing us. He needs help and learn to pass.

It has to be a nightmare from a coaching perspective to attempt to teach a particular style of play or anything for that matter when fundamental rules are variables open to interpretation from game to game. How does one overcome that via coaching?
^I’ve often wondered this myself. You want to blame it on the coaches and the players with the “you’ve got to learn to play through it (foul trouble or lack of fouls being called in your favor)” mentality. However, how CAN you do that when the rules are fluid in the same game? I guess that all we can do is hope the administration is seeing the same thing, and filing the appropriate grievances….and continue to expose it ourselves when we see it. GO PACK!!

Teams are doubling down or triple teaming Calvin when her gets the ball down low, a kind way of saying they are mugging him. There are often two and sometimes three or four players teaming up on him underneath. If he can learn to get his head up and find an open man rather than try to draw a foul or make an impossible shot, that crap will end. Opponents will have to stay with their man. Now they are watching the films and seeing Calvin hell bound to get the ball to the hoop underneath. We have several good jump shooters, start finding them and put an end to this crap. Then you can hang around and rebound.

As long as opposing teams know that if Calvin gets the ball within 8 feet of the basket, he’s bound and determined to shoot rather than pass it back out, they’ll continue with the triple-team muggings. It’s worth the gamble of a foul – especially given Calvin’s free-throw shooting “prowess”, and the inconsistency of the officials.
If CJ has any sort of “problem” it’s goal tending. Been called for that several times.
