Closer look at the “Jimmy V” jersey
In yesterday’s entry honoring of the anniversary of the first game Jim Valvano coached at NC State we linked up the special jersey that NC State will wear in the Jimmy V Classic next week against UConn.
This morning, Coach Gottfried tweeted a closer look at the jersey. You can click on the picture below for a larger view.

i guess time does indeed heal all wounds. i still remember the bog skewering this man. firing him and saying he wasn’t fit to lead our program. now we celebrate his legacy. he was 1 hell of a coach and never deserved the treatment he received based on the nature of said transgressions.
Cant’ help but wonder if he might still be with us today, were it not for all those chain of events with the basketball program. And for what? Seems others have done worse and less punishment. Guess someone wanted to make a point. Now Jimmy V is no longer with us, but his memory will always remain. I for one think things were carried to the extreme against him, and the basketball program was cursed for doing so. Perhaps the curse is over now, with Gottfried.
Those are the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time.

Some have already echoed it–this is a significant event–the university is finally celebrating Valvano’s legacy, and how more explicit can you get than putting his famous motto on the back of our OFFICIAL GAME jersey (even for one game). Finally. That jersey represents this cultural change, and is frothing over with positive symbolism on multiple fronts : ) Chill bumps. Thanks DY.
