Honey Badger’s Pain is Amerson Island’s Gain?
I’m too lazy to embed a link right now, but all media outlets are reporting that Les Miles finally had enough of CB Tyrann Mathieu a/k/a Honey Badger’s antics – now kicked off the team for good. That’s not just good news for SEC quarterbacks.
My immediate reaction has only grown stronger as the evening progressed. David Amerson is now clearly the best defensive back playing college football in 2012. Even if foes try to throw away from him (and hopefully, Glennon puts so many points on the board that won’t be a viable option), it’s likely that Amerson will walk away with some hardware this December. Even more exciting, I no longer see any other defensive player to split votes. Not saying that Amerson has a shot at winning the Heisman…but a dark horse to be invited to the ceremony and finish Top 3-5? Most definitely.
I can’t imagine better PR for NC State football, and I can’t think of a better kid to enjoy such well-earned acclimation for his ridiculous skills (with feet, hands, and brain). Football season…almost here. Thank God!!

The hype is getting big. Let’s hope “just” a good season from Amerson doesn’t rile the fan base.
I’m afraid anything short of spectacular will lead to an onslaught of disparaging comments.
Pardon my ignorance, but why was he called “Honey Badger”?
Want to share this again. Please someone copy this. Go to yahoo sports and go to NCAAB and copy coach K wearing a red shirt doing the wolfpack sign.

Lotsa talk for a guy who wasn’t even the best corner in college ball last year (and wouldn’t have been this year).
Regarding Amerson as a dark horse Heisman candidate, I wouldn’t mind seeing him get some snaps on offense. His size, athleticism, and ball skills, would seem to imply he could potentially succeed at WR, and it’s not like we are loaded at that position.
But that seems more like an Amato move than an O’Brien move.
Wow! Good omen????? Was reading this when the FedX guy rang the doorbell and handed me my season tickets!
^Tau, someone had asked Glennon about Amerson possibly getting some snaps at WR with his play-making abilities. Glennon laughed and talked up the guys at WR but noted that Amerson would probably do just fine on the other side of the ball.
My biggest fear of Amerson playing WR is that the other teams Defense would look to hit him hard any time they could to knock him out of the game. On defense, he’s usually the one delivering the hits. Not to mention, he’d have a lot less gas at the end of a game to cover the other teams WRs.
I would like to see Amerson on “Hail Mary” packages at least. He’s as good as Calvin Johnson on jump balls.
