Richard Howell doubled his average with 22 points, and 11th-seeded North Carolina State used its muscle inside and sticky defense to upset San Diego State 79-65 on Friday in a second-round East Regional game.

We are looking like a tough out
Played like a team that belonged; you would’ve thought we were the six seed. Basically controlled the second half, absorbed their runs and never looked anything but completely confident and in control. Love the way this team has come together. GO PACK!!!

Thanks Gott. You came to State when seemingly no one else wanted the job. You took Sid’s recruits, picked up a 5th year grad student/athlete, hired a great group of assistants, got the team in shape, coached them up, recruited 3 Burger Boys for your second year, made the NCAAT and won your first round game as an 11 seed. ACC needs to consider offering these refs a contract. I just worry they’ll get “trained” on “tendencies” and the end result is no better.
Just to be safe on the karma side, I hope we at least say we’re not pleased with CJW’s late slam.

Kudos to the refs. I think they called a good game. They were fair both ways and they were consistent on charge/block situations. I told my wife 10 mins into the first half that I will not be complaining about the refs if we lose this game. This is how basketball is meant to be played and officiated.
