Congrats to our boys. They ended up on the right teams.
People who think Austin Rivers had a better year than Kendall Marshall are out of their minds.
Congrats, boys. Well done.
Rivers and Marshall are just two different players. Rivers is much more the take charge leader/scorer and has true NBA potential. Marshall just manages the game, gets UNC out on the break, and drops dimes. Both very good players, but I’d rather have a guy like Marshall to get everyone involved.
Mason Plumlee making the third team is a bit of a head scratcher. He wasn’t even on my radar, but oh well. More love for the blues.
Remember this is a media voted team. Players from non “blue” schools must do more to get same attention as players from Unc-cheat and Dook. The bias in awards is one of their biggest recruiting tools.
Congrats to Calvin and Lorenzo. Well-deserved ! Now, let’s show them how under-valued our other guys are in Atlanta
Way to go Calvin and Zo. Congrats …
I would’ve put Marshall ahead of both Rivers and Barnes.
Plumlee?
Whatevs.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a guy miss more point blank dunks than Dumblee.
My ballot was much better!!
will Calvin stay? Stay Calvin, please stay!!
I include Calvin staying in my nightly prayers
There’s a predestination joke in there somewhere. I just can’t get the phrasing right.
Looking forward to next year. Leslie and Brown are locks for the first team if they keep trending up like they did this year. I expect to have some freshman on the all-freshman team and if Howell and Painter can keep improving and learn to be aggressive without fouling, they’re second team material next year too. And maybe some of our freshmen will make second team too.
BJD95…do you want a predestination joke, or a Presbyterian one?
regarding predestination: it ‘seems like’ several stayed in college this season. however, EVERYbody jumps in 2012. maybe that’s Mayan…. i dunno.
I thought Brown was a lock for second team All-ACC. Basically, I thought he’d have the vote total of Marshall and be just shy of making first team All-ACC.
Brown’s the best all-around guard in the ACC. He’s second in assists, damn near close to first in steals, and averaging in double figures.
Leslie’s come on strong at the end of the season, but he hasn’t been as consistent as Brown.
Anyway, it’s been a long time since we had two players make all conference.
Congrats to Leslie and Brown for an outstanding season.
The neat thing is both of them have the potential to be so much better than they were this year. Hope they both come back next year.
Eep, Lunardi has Drexel in as a “last four” at-large pick. They didn’t pass the “eye test” for me.
Congrats Calvin and Zo you deserve it!!!!!!!
^BJD, do you think they are getting placed there because other teams haven’t played their conference tournaments yet, meaning Drexel can get pushed down during the weekend? Or is it just irrational love for the CAA?
David Glenn IIRC said today he was surprised CJ was 2nd, he had him 3rd. What a Dick.
I hope Calvin stays, but the way he runs the court and now plays facing the basket he is made for the NBA and I think he will make a great NBA player. NBA scouts loved him 2 years ago, be hard for them not to love him again. We can only hope they looking for him to mature another year. Congrats to Calvin and Brown!
The best thing we’ve got going for us with Calvin is that the draft is absolutely loaded this year. So many guys stayed in school last year because of the lockout, so the draft will be as deep as its been in years. Even if he didn’t improve at all next season, he’d probably move up 5-10 spots just because of a lighter talent pool. He still might go, but I think there’s some hope that he sticks around to make a run at being a lottery pick.
IMO Brown is clearly deserving of 2nd team. For example, he is clearly more deserving than Stoglin or Erick Green. (And Curry.)
Thumbs down to ACC voters for not properly recognizing Brown.
Stoglin is a ballhog. I hope he stays at least another year at Maryland, because he’s the kind of kid that can destroy team chemistry. Over their last five games he shot 27 for 93 (29%). Way to share the rock. Or should I say brick? He might have led the league in scoring, but he wasn’t exactly efficient in doing it.
Lorenzo Brown was better than Marshall in every statistical category with the exception of assists and 3pt percentage. I’m not saying he should have been on the first team but if Marshall was snubbed then so was Brown.
