Gottfried says what we all are thinking

Gottfried responds to a question about Karl’s Hess’ ejection of two NCSU legends. I, for one, appreciate a coach who is willing to stand up for us. Most of the media seem to be in agreement that what Hess did is wrong but the ACC has refused to address this in an acceptable manner.
Gottfried states
I’m disappointed quite frankly in the ACC because not only did he throw out two of North Carolina State’s greats, he threw out two of the ACC’s greats. The league is supporting an official rather than supporting former great players. The former great players, in my opinion, were embarrassed and wronged when they shouldn’t have been. I don’t think you can have rabbit ears like that if you’re a referee and start throwing people out.
This is the kind of backbone we need at NCSU. Someone who is not afraid of the ACC and its built-in hierarchy. It never gets better for coaches that cower.
Now the question becomes, does the ACC rectify this matter or further inflame it by fining Gottfried for daring to comment about a referee.
I like the suggestion made on this thread.
Debbie Yow should publicly reprimand Gott for failing to follow athletic department procedures and state that she will re-iterate the policy with all our coaches.

The ACC has responded by suspending Coach Gottfried for the next game (UNC) and fining him $50k.

It is very refreshing to see coach Gottfried tell Swoford and the ACC that they were and continue to be wrong. If they should try to sanction Gottfried then the University should tell them to go F* themselves.
Its a brilliant political move by Gottfried…he shouldn’t be fined because this was not in an official capacity and all he does is increase the fire in the fanbase…brilliant…
I hate to be this guy (I am rarely this guy) but how many coaches have we had that would be willing to respond that way even in front of just the fans…

It will be a refreshing day when the leadership in this conference changes.
I’m sure MG would have preferred we not get forcibly penetrated in Durham last week, and that the win we earned was reflected in the conference standings. Then, things wouldn’t have been the least bit tense on Saturday (still a loss, but playing with house money).
But what happened is what happened. So MG is playing the hand he’s been dealt, and embracing the righteous, grassroots Wolfpack anger. We are mad as hell and not going to take this disrepect, and MG has decided to come along for the ride.

I honestly think there would be a riot.
To be honest, my guess is Gottfried is loving this. I’m sure Gottfried can imagine our fan based when we’ve actually been given something to cheer for! If we get this animated because we lost a game and some former players got the thumb…imagine what would happen if we actually BEAT Duke, Carolina or won an ACC title?
Lets be sure we do not get on TV and become the bad guys in this situation. So far Corch,Gugs,MG,DY, have all acted responsibly even though outraged. Let’s be spirited and responsible so we maintain the high road according to public opinion.
Yet Swoff will travel to Indy to have the back of a thugs run of the mill program, but leaves All time ACC legends to fend for themselves throughout the ordeal.
MG has got it because he’s been around the block and kept his eyes and ears open. Meanwhile Swoffy appears to have moved towards a “Occupy Lee Fowlers vacation retreat” mode. Out of touch no sense now trying to get it John.
The lack of the acc to fire him first just shows their weakness and inability to see the big picture. Then again, it’s johnny up top and he’s never seen the big picture…it has to get shoved in his face before he sees anything.
The fact that Hess hasn’t come out and given an explanation demands an even sharper penalty. He’s shown that he is indeed a very, very unprofessional referee (lets not mention weak) and it’s time for him to go.
Hey remember that time John Swofford graduated from UNC? yeah, explains a lot.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was staged. And brilliantly done if so. This lets the fans know without any doubt he’s got our back and I don’t see how he can be held accountable for something he says outside of the media.

Don’t you think if Swoff really wanted to pull strings to help carolina he would have arranged Wolfpack WINS in the last two games, so as to put his team in 1st place?
