‘Pack Nine Down Marshall to Open Season
Since we all need a break from last night’s events- NC State defeated Marshall to open baseball season 10-3 today. Trea Turner broke the game open with a bases clearing double, and Carlos Rodon picked up his first college win in his debut, pitching a stellar four innings (5th through 8th). Ogburn went the first four and was fairly good as well, although there were some early defensive jitters.
Something to look for info on: Brett Williams left in the 5th inning; let’s hope it’s not an injury.
Two games tomorrow!

It was a great afternoon and a great game. A good crowd of around 1,500 showed up to see the three freshman we’ve been hearing about and we were not dissapointed. Rodon is the real deal with a clean 96 mph fastball. Only 1 hit and 7 k’s in 4 innings. Turner played 3rd and sparked a run rally in the 8th. Catcher Brett Austin had an impressive pick-off at 2nd. With the returning talent, this team could be the best in a long time. Brett Williams had a bad trip and fall at first base. The shortstop threw high to the first baseman, who was jumping and reaching and made Williams duck under him. He tripped over the base, and was holding his knee or ankle. He had to be helped off the field.
