Pack/Canes Game Thread
As was the Wake contest last weekend, this will be a “treadmill game” for me. I will join you in the comments for the second half, but hopefully my first half running will provide similar good luck.
NC State is in a three game “house money” stretch. Well, sort of. Going 0-for-3 wouldn’t be good – but one win is all we really need to hold serve and be well on track for a winning record in ACC play – which is the sensible goal for the 2011-12 Wolfpack.
CJ Williams will apparently give it a go today, which is huge for us. Hard to beat anybody with just a 6-man playable rotation. I like today being a test case for him – if he can’t play much or is exceptionally sore afterwards, I expect him to be held out until next Saturday’s pivotal contest against UVA. But that is just my opinion, and I’m sure tons of people will bitch about it some more. Free country and whatnot.

I hope the treadmill leads to a good year. We’ll all benefit from your fitness.
Wolfpack’s OOC schedule had a tough day yesterday, hence State’s RPI dropped by 7 spots. Win today at #54 Miami would be very helpful.
Should be interesting with Odom doing the analysis.
Sluggish start. I don’t like these nooners. Good to see CJW out there, but I want to see him prove his shoulder is solid with a nice jam.
Howell so far one shot blocked, one TO, and fouled a 3 pt shooter
Good gosh Miami’s bigs don’t get back on d…we can get beat them back and get good looks.
Right now we’re playing tired…flat shots dumb mistakes.
How in the hell was that not over the back or our ball.
Run faster, BJD.
Just got back from church.
I see Howell already has two dumbs fouls. Sigh
Glad to see CJW playing.
The low score does not bode well for us.
Is our reboudning as bad as it seems?
Wood gets called for that foul every time he does it. When will he figure out it is not a good idea.
The ACC will not have decent officiating until Swofford is gone and the new Comiss cleans house.
^No he doesn’t. He has several blocks from behind this year, including quite a few in just the past few games.
He gets called for a foul on that in many cases when it isn’t a foul. He should keep doing it unless he is in foul trouble in a given game.
The team doesn’t seem to be as sharp with the ball movement today. On that last possession, Wood was wide open for a three pointer due to the trap, but he was ignored. It worked out thanks to an offensive rebound by Leslie, but we need to find him when he is open.
Gottfried needs to go ape shit in a press conference and soon. Ala K in ’83. Time to piss on the proverbial fire hydrant.
Johnson is looking good, so far.
Any live streaming? No espn3 here:) Thanks
WTF Calvin…
3 words for Calvin when he gets a steal or rebound: FIND A GUARD
And there is an example of why Leslie should never attempt to lead the fast break.
I feel like we should be up by 10, but we’re only up by three because we’ve been sluggish so far and missed some easy shots to start the game.
We need to get Kadji in foul trouble. He looks like the only real weapon Miami has.
We ought to be able to run this Canes team off the floor.
I agree with Rick on Wood. He’s constantly out of position on D, and it is an easy call to make. You are not going to get the benefit of the doubt more often than not.
WTF Calvin. Put a lid on it.
^Wood is frequently out of position because the majority of the time, he is guarding a player who is much quicker than he is. He plays fundamentally sound defense, but quickness often wins out. He uses his length to compensate in cases where he can go for the block from behind. And he has been reasonably successful at that.
I feel confident that Gott will let him know if he needs to stop, and it appears that hasn’t happened so far.
Agree with Gene that it feels like we should be up by 10, but it’s only a 5 point lead. Need to close the half strong. Very important final 6 minutes here.
Wow, impressive shot for Johnson there.
