I hope Amerson breaks the record against Maryland, and that we also give ourselves a good sendoff to a bowl game.
FBS: 14 – Al Worley, Washington, 1968[37] This is the NCAA divison 1 record
Who is Dre Bly??? Who cares. He had 11 and that is the ACC record

Amerson Needs is tied with Dre at 11 and needs four more to break the all time NCAA record for Division 1(FBS)
1 against MD or 1 in the bowl game in Charlotte will do it.
“1 against MD or 1 in the bowl game in Charlotte will do it.”
Ooohh. Brave.
I’d like to see him get 3 or 4 against Maryland as we pour on the rout!
Good comment RB … keep the faith!
Looking at the numbers for the other Thorpe Award finalists, looks like they’re both upperclassmen, have many, many fewer interceptions and only 1 has many more solo tackles than Amerson. One of the finalists is a senior with 12 CAREER interceptions like that’s a big deal. If Amerson doesn’t win, it would mean that HUGE NATION LEADING numbers out of the ACC count for very little compared to much worse numbers out of the SEC.

Looking at the video and thinking about it, Amerson’s made his interceptions just about every way. He’s made great reads from tape study and stepped into the passing lane at the right time. He’s made a quick reaction and hyper-athletic dive to the ball. He’s turned and outplayed receivers on long passes. He’s taken advantage of a receiver’s bobble and had the playmaking ability and hands to snatch the ball out of the air. I’m not sure he’s been penalized for pass interference all year either.
The killer instinct vs VA was what had me at pick 6.
Let’s get two tomorrow!
Being in the final three with two guys off the top two teams in the nation is very impressive. Congrats!
